Currently, we are seeking qualified candidates for an Employee Relations Senior Manager opening to join our Employee Relations Center of Excellence organization.
Day to Day (what a typical day or week look like in this role)
Today, you might be using a working knowledge of applicable employment laws and HR best practices to counsel and advise managers and human resources representatives on complex employee relations issues. Tomorrow, you'll lead the development and implementation of training initiatives. And, you might conduct internal investigations into complex and sensitive employee relations issues. You may also develop and implement human resource process and policy improvements.
What You Will Do
- Partner with leaders and Human Resource Business Partners (HRBPs) in improving manager and team capability and effectiveness by identifying root causes to issues, designing, developing and delivering effective and sound business solutions.
- Apply learning and root-cause analyses - identify trends and address barriers to effectiveness and systemic limitations.
- Review employment practices and procedures for effectiveness and compliance; develop and implement recommendations for process, practice and/or policy changes.
- Lead and partner in the development and implementation of training initiatives to improve management capabilities related to effective employee performance management, conflict management and employment compliance practices.
- Serve as an Employee Relations expert, providing counsel and guidance to HRBPs and business leaders for complex and escalated issues, such as policy interpretation, performance management, disability management, job eliminations and other terminations, conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, or other issues representing significant risk to the organization.
- Counsels and advises HRBPs, HR leadership and business leaders on the administration of practices in compliance with specific federal, state and local employment laws including but not limited to the FCRA, FLSA, ADEA, Title VII, ADAAA, FMLA, and NLRA.
- Lead the investigation and resolution of complaints of the highest complexity and sensitivity, ensuring investigations are conducted and recommendations are developed in an objective and thorough manner and prepare written reports of fact findings.
- Develop approach for managing complex, ambiguous, and/or escalated ER issues.
- Identify ER trends within a business unit and collaborate with HRBPs to identify necessary policy or process modifications.
- May assist in union avoidance activities (including training and union-free communications)
- Other duties may be assigned.
- ER Specialists and/or ER Managers may report directly to this role
What You Need To Succeed
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field and minimum 8 years experience in human resources roles (Employee Relations, Generalist, Business Partner) OR 10 years experience in human resources roles (Employee Relations, Generalist, Business Partner); Master's degree, JD and/or SHRM certification is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of relevant state and federal employment laws.
- Strong creative problem solving skills with the ability to create rapid, practical solutions.
- Excellent conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
- Extensive experience conducting and managing corporate investigations of complex/sensitive workplace complaints, including EEO related allegations.
- Strong project management, oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience developing and delivering management training.
- Track record of influencing and providing consultation to management around complex organizational issues, including strong diplomacy, collaboration and change management skills.
- Demonstrated and sophisticated ability to independently identify and analyze issues and problems and develop and influence appropriate business solutions and plans of action.
- Ability to handle highly sensitive information with absolute confidentiality and professionalism.
- Ability to multi-task, deal with ambiguity, and work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
