Agriculture Industry Credit Executive
 
As the National Middle Market Agriculture Credit Executive you will manage the credit approval and portfolio surveillance processes.  You will partner with the Agriculture Industry leader to determine scope of the industry, develop a credit strategy, and educate risk professionals, bankers and other partners selling into the industry.  As part of the essential responsibilities, you will ensure the Firm remains within the stated risk appetite and concentration limits while managing the credit risk in the agriculture sector. Overall, you will have management and leadership responsibility for the agriculture risk organization reporting to the Middle Market Head of Risk.  The preferred location for this position is Chicago
 
Major Responsibilities
Provide oversight for the agriculture industry portfolio, this includes:
·         Ongoing review of underwriting practices and credit policies to ensure that they meet internal and external compliance objectives.
·         Providing leadership to agriculture underwriters, bankers and other partners.
·         Educating middle market bankers and credit professionals on industry background, trends and underwriting standards. 
·         Ensuring that risk professionals manage holistic risk and control functions.
·         Interacting regularly with senior risk professionals to promote consistency and adherence to the agriculture industry risk guidelines.
·         Direct and/or indirect leadership of team who may or may not have a portfolio 100% dedicated to the industry specialization.
·         Remain abreast of industry trends, effectively communicate any changes, and adapt quickly to dynamic industry trends while maintaining prudent underwriting standards with an eye towards business generation.
 
 
Qualifications
·         Ability to put controls and processes in place that ensure the risk appetite of the Firm is met and that new products and services fall within that risk appetite.
·         Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
·         More than 10 years of experience in various areas of Credit/Risk Management

·         Ability to provide overall credit risk leadership to a dynamic organization
·         You will lead a robust, but responsive, credit organization by:
o   Applying your own deep credit and portfolio analysis and management skills.
o   Putting controls and processes in place that ensure appropriate application of the Firm’s risk policies and guidance and that new products and services fall within those parameters.
o   Constantly monitoring credit portfolio for changes from internal and external factors and ensure credit practices allow for growth and are appropriately compensated for risk.
 
 
 
 
 
 
·         Compelling communication skills along with professional poise:
o   able to work with and build a agriculture astute credit staff, as well as bankers and other partners who will seek insight into the credit strategy and performance, by:
 
-          Communicating in accessible, non-technical terms and in a manner that is adaptable across different audiences.
-          Representing credit strategy in a range of forums (e.g., executive management etc.).
