As an IT software engineer you will analyze, gather requirements, design, configure and develop the IaaS management layer which supports the integration, automation, testing, deployment and ongoing operational support of software releases for Acxiom’s IT infrastructure.Using current programming languages and scripting technologies you will write code, complete programming, perform testing and debugging of applications. Our software engineers complete documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance. You will interact with users to define system requirements and/or necessary modifications. As you advance in your career the expectation is individuals become thought leaders and communicate those ideas.
What you will do:
- Provide software architecture/engineering
representation in support of IT architecture activities
- Possess a sound understanding
of Acxiom functional and business objectives that drive and shape
technology requirements and design deliverables
- Evaluate requirements and
define an organized code plan that estimates the tasks needed for the
overall project
- Complete coding tasks –
examples include APIs, integration modules and other applications
- Ensure that all capabilities
delivered align with original business objectives, services levels, IT
strategies and design intent
- Produce quality code that is
efficient, secure, supportable and consistent from project to project
- Collaborate with other
engineers and architects, within IT and other parts of Acxiom, to drive
guidelines and documentation
- Provide advanced technical
expertise, oversight and accountability for resolution of outages, service
level issues and other events in partnership with support teams
- Follow the software life cycle
for production certification
- Closely partner with information security in insuring all applicable security and compliance standards and requirements are incorporated into software/service design
What you will need:
- BS Degree in MIS/ Computer
science or equivalent work experience in a highly complex, dynamic IT
environment
- Ability to multi-task, managing
multiple tasks at one time; quickly and accurately shifting attention
among multiple tasks under distracting conditions without loss of accuracy
- Demonstrated ability to
translate business requirements into IT solutions
- Ability to articulate
end-to-end technical requirements across delivery functions
- Extensive experience of
designing, developing, testing complex software solutions to support
distributed, scalable and highly available applications
- Excellent verbal and written
communication, interpersonal, conflict resolution and customer service
skills
- Professionalism in dealing with
all levels of management and staff
- Understands systems
dependencies and interrelation to the business
- Able to analyze complex
cross-functional and cross-platform issues
- Able to define process
improvements

What will set you apart:
- Understanding of the
competitive IT landscape from both a business and technical perspective
- Experience with IaaS
(conceptual and/or practical) , including software-defined infrastructure
(e.g., network, storage, etc.), defining service catalogs, etc.
- Experience with virtualization
and cloud management and automation technologies (e.g., VMware, KVM,
OpenStack, etc.)
- Experience with external Cloud
providers (ex. AWS)
- Experience with operating
systems including Unix, Linux and Microsoft Windows
- Understanding of or experience
with various network (including firewall and load balancers) and security
technologies (e.g., Cisco, Palo Alto, A10, etc.)
- Experience with programming and
scripting languages such as C/C++, Java, Bash, Perl, JavaScript, XML, HTML,
PowerShell, etc.
- Experience designing and implementing APIs
