Valero Energy Corporation
Responsible for drafting, review and negotiation of agreements supporting day-to-day operations and maintenance, as well as special projects, at all Valero refineries, ethanol plants, terminals and other facilities throughout the USA, including legal support for Valero’s headquarters-based Supply Chain Management group. From time to time the position may involve assistance with merger, acquisition, divestiture and joint venture transactions.
- Represent Valero in various contract negotiations, including the drafting and review of complex contractual language.
- Advise Valero management and other Valero personnel regarding a variety of business and commercial law issues.
- Analyze and interpret statutory, common law and contractual rights and obligations of Valero.
- Draft and maintain standard form contracts.
- Draft unique, deal-specific agreements covering a broad spectrum of commercial topics, including construction, engineering and other professional services, general business law, leasing, licensing, real estate, utilities, chemicals, industrial gases and many others.
- Train contract administrators and others regarding contracting procedures and use of contracting forms.

Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university required.

Law degree from an accredited law school required;

A minimum of five years commercial /transactional law experience with another major public corporation or a law firm is required.

Licensed to practice law in Texas, or licensed to practice law in other states with the ability to become licensed in Texas.

Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) are required.

Experience in the refining industry or related industries is a plus but not required.
Candidates with greater experience will be considered for a more senior position.
