Associate Manager, Actuarial - Individual Life Reinsurance

This position is in the Reinsurance Negotiations area within the Actuarial function of Individual Life Insurance and is located in either Newark, NJ or Hartford, CT. 

 

The Reinsurance Negotiations area has responsibility for all aspects of the reinsurance negotiations process including:

 

• Soliciting and analyzing reinsurance bids
• Negotiating issues with reinsurers
• Drafting reinsurance agreements and other ancillary documents
• Documenting reinsurance rules and procedures and compliance with corporate policies related to reinsurance.

 

This position will require the associate to think through and analyze problems.  The associate should possess strong written communication and analytical skills.  In addition, this position requires the candidate to develop relationships with many internal and external partners.  It is important that the candidate has strong interpersonal skills.

 

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications: 

• 3 – 5 years relevant experience
• B.A./B.S. required – preferably in accounting, business, finance, mathematics, or related field
• Strong technical and analytical skills
• Careful attention to detail
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to build and maintain working relationships with individuals of all levels from other departments and with external reinsurers
• Firm working knowledge of MS Excel and Word
• Previous life insurance and/or reinsurance experience a plus
