POSITION SUMMARY:

 

Under direct supervision of the Accounting Manager, the Accruals Accountant serves as a member of the Finance Team. Assists the Finance Department in the timely and accurate processing of all general accounting related transactions and activities, and analysis of account balances. Responsible primarily for accounting for liabilities, including but not limited to the estimation processes, analyses and reconciliations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: AA/AS degree in Accounting or related field. Two (2) years-experience in an accounting department, Two (2) years-experience with high volume A/P.
Experience with non-profit accounting.
High School graduate or equivalent and five (5) years-experience in an accounting department

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Adaptable to constant change, able to function effectively under stress
- Analytical skills, critical thinking and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office suite with an emphasis on advanced spreadsheet skills.
- Inter-personal skills necessary in order to communicate effectively with vendors and internal customers as well as providing information requiring ordinary courtesy and tact.

Essential Functions:
- Performs Accounting functions in a timely and accurate manner, especially during each montn end close, research and resolve account variances in the monthly reconciliation processes.
- Perform A/P batch and A/P month end closing in conjunction with regional and head office timelines.
- Participate in Month End closing with assigned liabilities' account reconciliations and preparaton of G/L journal entries associated with assigned accounts.
- Prepare and journal miscellaneous cash deposits.
- Process intercompany billings to include running reports, providing back-up and reconciliates with associated entities.
