Please note that this position will be hired under the subsidiary Continental Airlines divisional work rules until joint work rules are obtained.
 
Responsibilities
  • Packs and checks flights
  • Caters aircraft by loading and unloading food, beverage and equipment on/off aircraft and in/out of vehicles
  • Drives catering vehicle and properly positions to aircraft
  • Checks and assures vehicle is in operable condition
  • Informs manager of any maintenance needs or mechanical problems with vehicle
  • Packs, organizes and secures equipment into carriers and places onto carts
  • Cleans and maintains catering vehicles
  • Cleans work area
  • Handles sanitizing chemicals
  • Assists in preparing wet ice and dry ice for flights
  • Drives hi-lift cargo vehicles and cargo vans
  • Operates forklift, hand truck and pallet jack
  • Supports unit in the Supply Chain Optimization initiative
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Education

  • High school diploma/General Educational Development (GED) or educational equivalent required

Knowledge/Skills

  • Ability to use basic math skills to calculate totals and percentages is required
  • Ability to read, speak and write English fluently is required
  • Ability to communicate with coworkers is required
  • Ability to communicate with coworkers and managers using two-way radios is required
  • Repetitive pushing and pulling carts and wagons is required
  • Repetitive reaching, lifting, carrying and handling equipment and beverage carriers is required
  • Continuous standing and frequent walking and stooping to pick up equipment from ground level is required
  • Paying attention to detail during packing of flights, catering flights and positioning carriers and carts in correct location is required
  • Ability to calculate totals for final counts and percentages is required
  • Ability to work under time constraints is required
  • Ability to respond correctly to meal count and aircraft changes at a moment's notice is required
  • Ability to work in refrigerated areas of 35 degrees F at intervals of one hour is required
  • Ability to tolerate exposure to temperature extremes on the airfield during the catering of flights is required
  • Ability to tolerate the exposure to aircraft noise during catering of flights

Other

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Valid  ACTIVE state driver's license (suspended, expired, revoked or denied are NOT considered valid)
  • Must be willing to work any shift in a 24-hour-a-day/7-day-a-week operation, including weekends, early mornings, late nights and holidays
  • Training will be provided on the job
  • Ability to meet 10 years background clearance for FAA security access and U. S. Customs
  • Candidate must be able to clear a fingerprint-based criminal history check in order to obtain and retain credentials necessary for the position
  • Position-specific clearances include but are not limited to FAA, TSA, Port Authority, U.S. Customs and U.S. Postal service clearances
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualifications
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is essential function of the position
  • This position is located in Denver, CO and does NOT provide reimbursement for any relocation and/or travel expenses
