Security Controls –UNIX & Database Engineer/Architect
 
The Corporate & Investment Bank Production & Infrastructure Management Technology Controls team provides governance and ensures quality implementation and execution of controls for CIB technology infrastructure,  provides governance around CIB PIM owned issues and action plans and is responsible for identifying risks, driving risk mitigation projects and initiatives. 
 
The group also acts as a single point of contact for internal audits to provide accurate, relevant, timely and consistent information/evidence for Technology Infrastructure. The team works closely with corporate teams to define controls and coordinate remediation of risk issues.
 
 
Scope
•         Design and specifications writing for technical solutions in the Controls and Monitoring space for OSI/DBI Compliance requirements.
•         Implementation of software application per design (programming in Perl, Shell, SQL occasionally C)
•         Documentation for technical vulnerabilities, possible impact and feasible control/mitigation approach
•         Work in close collaboration with Information Risk Manager and Line of Business Compliance Manager along with DBA and Unix System Administrators.
 
The role involves:
•         Assist in the implementation of regulatory and other security and controls policies at both the OS and Database levels.
•         Assist in identifying additional security and controls issues.
•         Providing technical expertise to assist in risk evaluation.
•         Participate in evaluating the effectiveness of existing controls and compliance solutions and designing, developing and maintaining additional solutions where required.
•         Assisting in the establishment and maintenance of effective metrics to monitor and report on controls compliance in a large scale environment.
•         Contributing to regular BAU activities for existing tools and enhancing them for automation or meeting strategic objectives.
 
Position Responsibilities
 
Responsible for development and quality assurance, including:
 
•         Substantial software design and development aspect of the role primarily with Perl, shell scripting and SQL in UNIX environments. Additional skills with Windows, Active Directory, C/C++, Python, Java would be highly desirable.
 
•         Delivering reliable code, code review of your peers, assisting in the design of solutions, communication with end users and ensuring adequate test and end user documentation is available.
 
•         Proactive assessment of impact of design changes and implementation details on end users, ensuring maximum automation of tasks and supportability for the 1st line support teams. Where recurring problems occur, escalated from the first line team, identified by code review, or directly reported by end users it is expected that design proposals will be considered and put forward to fix the problems at source, in code, training or documentation.
 
•         All work will be performed in collaboration with the rest of the team, and as such usage of source code control systems, online knowledge sharing tools, bug and feature development tracking systems and group discussions will be a major part of the role.
