Technical Skills
Must Have:
- At least 4 years experience in Oracle or MS-SQL database administration
- At least 1 year experience with significant database administrator responsibilities and contributions e.g.
- Good understanding and working experience in database user administration, e.g. users, roles, privileges, etc.
- Good understanding of database architecture, able to describe and explain database architecture and functionality.
- Able to identify used and unused storage on server, suitable filesystems for different types of database files
- Good understanding and working experience in starting and stopping of databases, including troubleshooting startup and shutdown problems, also coordinating startup and shutdown of databases with related application software and other interfacing systems, etc.
- Able to develop automated scripts for day to day activities involving space monitoring, performance monitoring and database error logs.
- Good understanding and working experience in monitoring database for availability, performance, runtime problems and alerts.
- Knowledge in Replication using replication tools and services.
- Hands-on experience of Database Backup and Recovery. Full, Differential, Log (SQL), Complete, Incomplete (Oracle) and DB DRP
- Good understanding and experience in troubleshooting performance problem on any server (which may or may not be due to database problems alone), able to identify server resources experiencing bottlenecks.
Good to have (Added Advantage):
- Minimal knowledge in Sybase, MySQL, Ingres and DB2
- Minimal hands-on experience in Sybase, MySQL, Ingres and DB2
- Experience in handling small size projects in terms of environment upgrade, and database patching
- Ability to identify support documentation, knowledge databases, technical communities, forums, mailing lists and other information resources for the team

- MUST be willing to work on 24x7 if required
- Strong interpersonal and telephony skills
- Good analytical skills
- Team player. Ability to collaborate and cooperate with members of team and members of other teams
- Good communication skills, excellent written and spoken English skills
- Understanding of 24x7 mission critical enterprise computing environments and the impact of service disruption on a company's bottom line

- Ability to communicate clearly and in a timely manner with all customers, partners and users, internal and external
- Ability to work in a high pressure environment and to be on-call 24x7
General Scope of Work
- Incident management - work on incidents elevated from RMC
- Problem management - work on problem tickets triggered by RMC and find out the root cause of the problem and provide a permanent fix
- Initiate Change Management
- Release to Production
- Configuration Management
- Ownership of account related technical documentation
- Escalation management
- Patching activities Deployment
Certifications
Must have:
- Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (SQL)
OR
- Oracle certified professional (Oracle database 9i or 10g and above, not 8i)
Good to have (Added Advantage):
- MCSE 2003
- ITIL (IT industrial Library)
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
OR
- Diploma in IT - minimum of 4-5 years experience within IT Operations, infrastructure services support, operations monitoring and end user support
AND
- Minimum of 4 years in-depth technical knowledge of either of the applicable technology area: Oracle, SQL Databases
