Job Title: Head of Funding and Financial Risk Management

Location: Aldersgate, London

 

Role overview: A Strategic role with responsibility for bank and capital market financing as well as company-wide foreign exchange, commodity (fuel and carbon) and interest rate risk management, including the development of Group policy, exposure identification and the oversight of execution, recording and reporting of the impact of market transactions.

 

Key Tasks:

• Provide leadership as the technical expert in funding and financial risk management throughout the group, driving change in policy and processes, where required, to transform the finance function.

• Ensure that Board-approved Treasury policies in respect of funding and financial risk management remain appropriate and relevant in the current operating environment, working with business segment leaders to formulate relevant hedging strategies and business managers to ensure that policy is adopted throughout the company.

• Ensure that treasury policy and operating exposures are articulated clearly and communicated and understood at all levels in the organisation.

• Ensure that funding and financial risk is managed and measured for post-tax efficiency and consistent with an IFRS accounting environment.

• Establish, measure and control counterparty credit risk while maximising credit line availability and facilities to achieve the efficient execution of policy.

• Ensure compliance with all banking facility and bond documentation including pro-active management of financial covenants and administration of non-financial covenants.

• Lead a team to achieve operational excellence in deal execution, deal capture and deal reporting within a robust control framework in addition to providing a high quality service to business segments for internal transactions.

• Ensure the availability of the appropriate skill set in the Treasury risk management team, motivating, developing and coaching team members consistent with Thomas Cook values.

Personal Skills/ Knowledge:

Essential:
• Specialist knowledge of all elements of Treasury risk management, including foreign exchange, commodities, interest rate, liquidity and other financial and treasury related risks gained in a complex multi-national organisation.
• Knowledge and experience of negotiating and dealing with with senior bankers and rating agencies.
• Deep knowledge of IFRS in relation to hedging instruments
• Excellent team leadership skills
