Lab Support Service Tech
St. Elizabeth Hospital, Appleton WI
This position includes shifts from 5:00 AM to 3:30 PM Monday-Friday and 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM Every Third Weekend.
Performs phlebotomy on all ages including venipuncture, arterial, and capillary collection. Process laboratory specimens as assigned prior to testing including but not limited to centrifuging, separating fluids, and shipping samples. Effectively and safely follows laboratory policies and procedures. Troubleshoots central processing and reference laboratory issues successfully.
- Obtains Blood specimens using venipuncture, capillary, and arterial techniques.
- Accurately uses the laboratory information system to perform various tasks, including Central Scheduling.
- Demonstrates knowledge of specimen requirements
- Receives specimens that are drawn or that are delivered by courier as required.
- Processes specimens prior to analysis. Trouble shoots central processing and reference issues successfully.
- Gives proper instruction to patients for specimen collection, including non blood samples.
- Utilizes excellent phone etiquette every single time. Answers questions from other departments.
- Demonstrates appropriate knowledge related to patient care and assessment serving all age groups newborn through geriatrics.
- Prioritizes work to achieve maximum efficiency.
- Performs CLIA waived laboratory testing procedures.

- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Laboratory and phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending and reaching are required
- Works independently and as a member of the team.
- Handles difficult patients, customers, situations, and perform quality work under stress.
- Performs well in emergency situations.
