The Affinity Chaplain oversees the spiritual aspects of the plan of care for any patient  or resident.  The Chaplain serves as a liaison to the clergy, community and the medical health interdisciplinary team. This is a 40 HPW position and will focus on bed side care. Typical shifts are day hours, but may include some evenings and nights based on department need. This position also includes an on-call and weekend rotation and it eligible for Ministry's complete benefit package.  


Essential Duties 


The Chaplain responds to patient spiritual needs in a timely manner by:

   a.  Acting as a liaison between the medical team and the 

        patient/resident/family’s/significant other’s primary religious        

        resource.
        appropriate and requested by patient/resident/family/significant 
        other (s) or the medical staff.
       patients/residents/family/significant other’s, religious community,   
       and community at large. 
       related projects.
 schedule and supports its implementation.
 communication with spiritual services leadership team and internal 
 customers. 

   b.  Providing direct spiritual guidance, prayer, and/or sacraments as 

 

The Chaplain supports,  promotes and provides leadership regarding the mission, values, and objectives of Affinity Health System, and Spiritual Services Department by:

   a.  Creating a positive and cooperative environment.

   b.  Demonstrating an on-go


The Chaplain demonstrates courteous and cooperative behavior toward patients, residents, families, significant others, physicians and employees; demonstrates decision-making abilities; and demonstrates work flexibility.

The Chaplain uses formal and informal teaching methods by:

  a.  Functioning as an educational resource to 

  b.  Acting as a resource for medical staff regardin


The Chaplain communicates with patients/family/significant other (s) and the interdisciplinary health care team by:

  a.  Participating in patient staffing on assigned units.


The Chaplain is responsible for professional development by:

  a.  Attending department meetings.

  b.  Participating in continuing education, committees, and ministry      

  c.  Attending continuing and mandatory in-services.

 

-Utilized electronic documentation to to support the patient needs and    system productivity goals.

-Works cooperatively with the work team in development of on-call 

-Demonstrates respect and accountability through effective 

Minimum Education Required:

Ecclesiastical endorsement required.  Completion of 4 units of CPE required as well as certification by the National Association of Catholic Chaplains or the Association of Professional Chaplains required or working toward this certification and obtained

 

 

Minimum Related Years of Experience (per minimum education) Required:

Chaplain needs to have previous experience either as a chaplain or had comparable responsiblities in a parish setting.  A strong background in ministering effectively to persons in crisis and in critical or dying situations.
