About the Meraux Refinery
Valero acquired the Meraux, La., refinery from Murphy Oil USA Inc. in fall 2011. The plant, located on about 550 acres in St. Bernard Parish just southeast of New Orleans, is a complex refinery with a total throughput capacity of 135,000 barrels per day and significant hydro-processing capacity. It can process medium sour crude oil and produce significant yields of premium products. With Meraux’s dock on the Mississippi River, about 40 miles from the Valero St. Charles Refinery, Valero plans to integrate feedstocks and refined product blending with St. Charles.
