Associate Transportation Analyst
Valero Energy Corporation
Provides safe and reliable rail transportation service to Valero Operations, Supply and Marketing. Responsible for rail logistics execution between Valero facilities and third party terminals. Coordinates with internal commercial teams, railroads and terminal operators to ensure efficient execution of commercial plans.

Assists in the coordination of daily shipping activities and railcar requirements between marketing, plants and customers.

Ensures on time performance. Interact with railroad companies’ support teams on service issues and resolutions, trip plans, and diversions

Assists in the optimization of the railcar fleet based on demand, future supply plans, and railroad operating conditions

Maintain all railcar management system (BDS) data collection timely and accurately

Assists with compliance with Federal Railroad Association and Transport Canada Regulations

Assists in the maintenance of railcars - both repairs and regulatory compliance testing.

Assists in the coordination with governing agencies to obtain movement exceptions for damaged railcars when necessary

Reconciles and pay fleet related invoices. Resolves freight issues / discrepancies

Operates with a total respect for safety and pollution free operations

High school diploma or GED required.

One (1) year Transportation, Supply Chain or Accounting experience preferred.

General understanding of petroleum supply chain logistics (e.e. rail, truck, pipeline, marine)

Strong time management and organizational skills.

Ability to recognize and establish priorities.

Ability to effectively interact with internal and external contacts.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to tactfully and diplomatically diffuse contentious situations.

Skill in providing thorough, efficient, and effective customer service to individuals at all levels within the organization.
