The Senior Actuarial Analyst will perform mathematical analyses and actuarial modeling that provides management with statistical findings and conclusions. In this role you will interpret rate regulations, keep up with regulation changes and submit rate filings to comply with regulations and negotiate with the state during the approval process while helping health plan to achieve both business and financial goal. The analyses will impact foundational pricing and risk assumptions. The analyst will analyze and implement changes that impact the foundational pricing and risk assumptions. Responsibilities may also include calculation of reserves, development of program rates and forecasting/trend analysis. Collaborate with other functional teams in order to achieve the common goals.
Responsibilities include:
Analyzing data
Interpreting state requirements
Actuarial modeling
Participating in client relationships
Designing and running complex data programs
Performing quantitative analysis of actuarial, financial, utilization and costs data
Working with less structured, more complex issues
Serving as a resource to others
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Math, Economics or a related degree.
- ASA or FSA designation
- 4+ years of experience working in a corporate environment including experience collecting, analyzing and summarizing qualitative/quantitative healthcare data analytics
- At least an intermediate level of proficiency working with Microsoft Excel, including formulas, calculations, pivot tables, charts, graphs, etc.
- At least a basic level of proficiency with Access
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Preferred experience:
- Experience with SAS or SQL
- Experience working in healthcare industry with small group background
- Experience in all aspects of group pricing and rate filing
- Experience in creating and making presentations to health plans
