Specialty Sales Consultant, Small Business-Concord, CA

The primary responsibility of the Specialty Sales Consultant (SSC) is to work with the Account Executives/Renewal Account Consultants and Inside Sales, to facilitate specialty sales and persistency in the marketplace. The SSC will market and provide subject matter expertise on specialty employer paid and voluntary products and process for their assigned health plan. The small business SSC is responsible for the market assigned specialty sales goal for the specialty small business market segment, those customers employing up to 99 employees.

 

Major Responsibilities

At least 51% of this role’s activities are focused on external activities to support the specialty sales goal including:

Being responsible for full oversight of the specialty sale at the direction of the AE to achieve health plan market sales goals and maintain profitability.  Advocate for specialty voluntary products to support increase in enrollment and size of sale.  Consult with AE/RAC/RAE on strategy calls related to specialty products and process and develop and/or deliver broker presentations as specialty subject matter expert.

 

 

 

 

Bachelor's degree preferred.

Two or more years of sales experience in the insurance industry required with experience in Specialty Benefits strongly preferred.

Ability to understand underwriting, financial and analytical details as necessary.

Demonstrated success in meeting or exceeding sales goals.

Ability to work independently to establish and grow relationships in the broker community for the Small Business market for the assigned geographic area. Expectation to be in the field part of the time and on the phone, selling to brokers part of the time. 

Sales insurance license(s) must be maintained as required by state law.
