THE COMPANY: 

Tetra Pak Business Unit Dairy, Beverage & Prepared Food (BU DBF) develop and manufacture processing solutions for liquid foods for customer within the dairy, beverage and prepared food industry all over the world. Centers of Excellence are located in Sweden, USA, China, India, Denmark and Singapore.  Tetra Pak Business Unit Dairy, Beverage & Prepared Food USA, located in the greater Minneapolis area designs and manufactures processing solutions primarily for North-, South and Central Americas including the Caribbean.  

THE POSITION:

Tetra Pak DBF is looking for a Production Test Engineer (PTE) for the manufacturing facility in Winsted, MN. This position reports directly to the Production Manager.  This position will be responsible for delivering technical products and support to our production organization by providing automation testing / simulation, electrical and pneumatic factory testing services, fault finding of automation, electrical, instrumentation and mechanical systems, corrections and improvement recommendations of Branded Processing Units (BPU).  This role involves close collaboration with the production, sales, engineering, purchasing and logistics departments. The Production Test Engineer must continually demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills under tight time pressures while facilitating a positive working and team environment.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITES:  

-Responsible for testing of automation programs provided by engineering department 

-Responsible for electrical, instrumentation and pneumatic installation and connections of new Branded Processing Units (BPU)

-Perform electrical safety tests and checks of BPU

-Configure instrumentation, frequency drives, networks etc relevant to order

-Perform functional testing of instrumentation such as pressure transmitters, temperature transmitters etc

-Perform fault finding of automation, electrical, instrumentation and mechanical systems

-Conduct Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) together with customers as required

-Review and correct equipment documentation during testing and report findings back to engineering department for updating

-Ensure that assembly drawings are followed and adhered to

-Provide feedback to organization on suggested improvements to BPU based upon findings during testing

-Perform other job related duties as assigned in the production factory

-Provide commissioning, trouble shooting and field support as needed

-Report production testing hours associated with projects 

-Generate and follow up on materials shortage report

-Ensure that confirmed delivery dates are met as per planning

-Ensure that unused inventory is returned to parts supply chain once a project has been completed

-Generate detailed test report and correction lists

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

-Bachelor’s degree in a technical field a plus

- Previous experience within technical support, field service and process control in food, beverage, dairy, cheese or similar process related industries with proven and documented track record required

-Strong knowledge of process control systems and processes

-Strong knowledge of PLC, HMI and other control systems - Rockwell AB skills required

-Strong knowledge of process control instrumentation

-Preventative maintenance experience beneficial

-Strong technical skills

-Experience in trouble shooting and commissioning of BPUs

-Ability to read and understand flow charts, drawings and Bill of Materials (BOM)

-Strong proficiency with data analysis and prior experience in a project environment

-Must be able to perform, stay task focused and deliver results under pressure and time constraints

-Must be able to work independently and with minimum supervision

-Ability to achieve scheduled deadlines

-Ability to assign and positively influence the work of others in a non-reporting relationship

-Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills in English

-Team player, high level of personal drive, quick learner, self-motivated, detail oriented, accurate and a strong sense of urgency
