Description:
The Project Engineer will be part of the Eagle Ford Facilities Engineering Team and will be based in ConocoPhillips’ offices in Houston Texas. The Facilities Engineering Team provides technical support, project management and oversight to safely and responsibly produce the hydrocarbon products produced from the Eagle Ford Shale play in south Texas. This position will provide project management and engineering support for capital projects ranging from $2MM to $50MM involving a broad range of new builds and facilities modifications.
Responsibilities may include:
- Point of contact for all aspects of the project, including design, funding, planning and execution
- Front end loading and concept selection. Conduct and/or oversee process simulations, hydraulic and compression studies to support concept selection and optimization
- Coordination of design activities, including oversight of 3rd party contractors
- Guide contract engineering resources as required assisting with the execution of projects and compliance issues
- Develop budgetary and AFE quality cost estimates, periodic project updates, and perform post audits of projects
- Coordinate sourcing and bidding of equipment and labor if necessary
- Develop project plans and schedules
- Direct the compilation of project engineering packages to include such information as P&IDs, safety & control system information, piping plans, bill of materials, equipment details, etc.
- Coordinate all engineering disciplines to generate a sound product, including I&E, mechanical and process safety
- Interface with construction and operations groups to ensure sound constructability, operability and change management
- Interface with the Eagle Ford Quality group to ensure proper engineering standards are set and communicated and that a QA/QC program is in place
- Mentor other less experienced engineers and help steward functional excellence in project engineering and management
Basic/Required:
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum, Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering
- 1+ years of direct experience in facility engineering and/or project management
- 1+ years of experience in the oil and gas or petrochemical industry
Preferred:
- Direct experience with the use of Industry Codes, Standards, and Recommended Practices
- Direct experience supervising the work of contract resources
- Proficient in use of computer and office software (Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Word, or similar software)
- Working knowledge of scheduling programs (MS Project or Primavera) is advantageous
- Takes ownership of actions and follows through on commitments

- Generates effective solutions based on available information and makes timely decisions
- Demonstrates a strong commitment to delivering results while maintaining a safe environment
