Description:
ConocoPhillips is seeking a highly qualified and motivated technical individual for the position of Technical Training Advisor. The successful candidate will take a lead role in managing the technical training and development initiatives, projects, strategy as well as researching potential training solutions in support of our Global Technical Functions
Responsibilities may include:
- Ensure all Training and Development solutions consistently meet the needs and requirements of the business.
- Manage and lead the relationship between the Technical Training & Development Group, ConocoPhillips’ Global Technical Functions, and the Global Business Units
- Perform Technical Training and Development front-end analyses and needs assessments with the Technical Functions and Business Units
- Lead and manage numerous training projects at various stages of the training development lifecycle
- Provide technical and strategic support to the Technical Training team with the analysis, design and implementation of training and development programs, projects, processes, and performance aids (job aids, performance support systems, interactive resources)
- Create and determine best learning applications, metrics and performance impact to the individual, groups and to the business
- Provide research and insight with regard to best learning practices, solutions, and industry trends and advances
- Evaluate impact of learning solutions by:
- Reviewing and evaluating past instructor and course performance
- Reviewing and evaluating performance and cost analysis of external training suppliers
- Provide support in the development and maintenance of technical training curricula across all stages of an employee’s career. Work with multiple disciplines and business units to incorporate new skills, applications, and technologies into the curriculum
- Interact with other Talent Management and Learning groups with respect to Competency management, application, and development as well as with Professional Development initiatives
- Create the performance and test plans that include acceptance criteria and test case descriptions for new initiatives or pilot programs across technical training
- Provide budgetary as well as required support, planning and training forecasts and ensure execution of plan on an annual basis
- Provide periodic updates to senior leaders in the Technology groups, Business Units as well as with other functional groups within ConocoPhillips
- Address benchmarking training initiatives with industry peers
- Travel to appropriate Business Unit locations on a regular basis to help ensure communications, quality and consistency of program delivery and support
- Interact with appropriate Talent Management Teams to solicit needs and requirements to provide input to talent movement, development, etc.
Basic/Required:
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Geoscience, Psychology, Organizational Development, or Business related discipline
- 3+ years of experience partnering and/or consulting with key business leaders
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Intermediate level of experience in facilitating and managing several projects simultaneously
Preferred:
- Masters Degree Engineering, Geoscience, Psychology, Organizational Development, Human Resources or Business related discipline
- 5+ years of direct experience in the petroleum industry
- Comprehensive understanding of business processes, policies, procedures, contracts and product offerings
- Solid working knowledge of relevant industry and innovative technologies that are being introduced
- Executive presence – ability to build credibility with, consult to, and build strong relationships with senior clients
- Proficient in SharePoint
- Experience and Knowledge in the Learning and Development field
- Experience in multiple roles and/or BU locations
- Ability to work effectively with multiple disciplines in a team environment
- Ability to constructively influence at all levels without direct authority.
