Description:
The Permian Basin Asset Teams are developing long term growth plans to exploit the unconventional resource opportunities within the Permian Basin. A resource potential in excess of 1 BBO in the Bone Springs and Wolfcamp plays has been identified with capital funding of $1.2 Billion to support 6+ drilling rigs in 2015. Over the next several years, multi rig horizontal well programs will appraise and develop large acreage positions in New Mexico and West Texas. The Permian Shale Unconventional Asset is poised to become one of the most rapidly growing and active programs in the Lower 48 for ConocoPhillips.
The Water Implementation Supervisor will be responsible for the water management strategy and implementation plan for the Delaware Basin Unconventional Development. The team’s objectives are to:
- Develop, implement, and manage a phased water treatment, recycle, and produced water disposal plan for the surface and subsurface
- Develop a source water plan to support drilling and completion operations
- Manage the SWD well planning process
The Water Implementation Supervisor will report to the Development Manager, Permian Shale. The Water Implementation team will have 4-5 direct reports and 3-4 indirect reports phased in throughout 4Q, 2014 through 2Q,2015. The team will be comprised of a reservoir engineer, geoscientist, a planner/scheduler, project/facility engineer, completions lead, operations staff, and technical support staff. A first order of business for the new Water Implementation supervisor is to staff their combined team. The individual must be able to communicate and work closely with all functions including, but not limited to, Asset Implementation Teams, Reservoir Characterization, Drilling, Completion, Facility Projects, Exploration, Regulatory, Land, and Operations. In addition the individual must be capable of presenting to Upper Management on an as needed basis.
Responsibilities may include:
- Supervise, coach, mentor, and develop dedicated staff. Set a visible example in Safety Leadership Behaviors and establish a strong safety culture within the implementation team
- Develop appraisal and development water management strategies including source water for completions, produced water treatment and recycle, water storage, and water disposal
- Prepare and coordinate integrated implementation plans across multifunctional teams that will design, build, install and operate water management facilities
- Provide input into capital and operating budgets and the LRP process
- Provide monthly and quarterly updates on water management project status, budget outlooks, and facility/well performance
- Prepare, evaluate, and manage technical and business activities and contracts
- Work with operations to optimize water de-oiling systems, treatment facilities, and water disposal wells
- Work with completions teams to ensure infrastructure, wells, pipelines, and pits are installed to meet source water requirements for the unconventional well fracture stimulations
- Maintain a drillable SWD well inventory – AFE ready status. Drillable inventory must include contingency plans and flexibility to recognize and anticipate the play’s emerging state of knowledge
- Ensure storage pits and tanks, pipelines, facilities, and wells comply with regulatory and environmental regulations
- Support and coordinate with land, regulatory, and PTTRC to develop and implement a surface use plan and obtain ROW
- Build a subsurface model, and implement well and data gathering plans to ensure subsurface containment assurance
- Conduct water compatibility, water treatment, and corrosion inhibition studies. Implement programs to prevent scale and corrosion
Basic/Required:
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Geoscience, or related field
- 7+ years of experience in the oil and gas industry
- 1+ years of experience in the upstream oil and gas industry
Preferred:
- Upstream experience with intimate understanding of team functions necessary to develop an oil or gas field
- Experience in project management, water treatment facilities, process engineering, and completions engineering
- Experience with unconventional plays preferably in support of a development drilling program
- 1+ years of experience in supervisory or leadership position
- Enjoy active pace and ability to function under strict deadlines
