Division:  Security, ID Badging and Compliance

 

 

  

 

 

Under general supervision, performs specialized administrative functions following guidelines provided by the Airport Security Coordinator, related to the Airport Security Program in support of the ID Badging and Compliance Offices at O’Hare and Midway Airport.  Duties include the issuance, maintenance and control of security access identification media and other related duties as required.

 

 

 

Duties:  

  

 

 

  • Provide courteous, professional assistance to customers in person and/or by telephone

     

  • Answer, research and respond to customer inquiries and problems that arise during badging/security compliance related transactions 

     

  • Explain program information, procedures and departmental policies to the general public

     

  • Confer with users to discuss issues such as access control needs, security violations and policy changes. 

     

  • Initiate fingerprint based criminal history record checks

     

  • Modify security profiles to incorporate new information, correct errors, or change access media status 

     

  • Compile documents and obtain data from various sources to ensure compliance with federal and departmental regulations for badge issuance and maintenance 

     

  • Perform administrative duties in the Badging or Compliance offices including but not limited to, scanning documents, document control and administration of security clearances.

Days Off:  Saturday and Sunday

 

Shift:         Days, Monday-Friday

 

Hours:       7:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m., 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m., 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

THIS POSITION IS IN THE CAREER SERVICE.

 

 

Two years of progressively responsible administrative or secretarial experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

SELECTION REQUIREMENTS:

 

This position requires applicants to complete an interview which will include a written exercise and/or a skills assessment test as part of the interview. The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position, based on the oral and written parts of the interview will be selected.

 

Preference will be given to candidates possessing the following:

 

·         Previous work experience providing clerical and administrative support

 

·         Previous experience providing customer service, both in person and over the telephone

 

·         Previous work experience in the implementation of procedures and work standards to ensure accurate data entry and maintenance of computer records

 

·         Previous work experience performing office duties such as answering phones, filing and data entry

Evaluation:  Your initial evaluation will be based on information provided on the application form and documents submitted with the application.  Applications must be submitted by the individual applicant.  No second party applicants will be accepted.

 

 

 

Residency Requirement:   An employee must be an actual resident of the City of Chicago.  Proof of residency will be required at the time of employment.
