Lead Business Architect
As a direct report to the Chief Architect for OptumRx, you will support the development of a newly forming Business Domain Architecture team. You will be responsible for helping to shape and mature this new practice supporting the OptumRx Segment.
Core responsibilities will include:
- Contribute to improving business-IT alignment through the development of multi-year roadmaps for business and supporting application, information and technologies that align the business and IT and resolve any risks, gaps, dependencies and drive strategic investment recommendations
- Coach and mentor business architects and ensure that high quality business architecture deliverables are consistently produced and used to drive information, application and technology investments
- Track industry trends for business architecture and business strategy and provide insights
- Maintain strong relationships and regular communication with senior business leaders and other relevant stakeholders
- Coordinate roadmaps and ensure alignment across solution deliveries
- Support the adoption / design, development, institutionalization and ongoing evolution of OptumRx Segment Architecture Practice / Framework
- Establish or leverage / adopt appropriate Enterprise Architecture Platform that supports and implements defined Enterprise Architecture Framework
- Provide guidance and mentoring to Business Architects, Application Architects, Data Architects and Solution Architects
- Drive enterprise-wide collaboration by standardizing on the Enterprise Architecture knowledge management, training and actively participating in the architecture community across the enterprise
- Participate on Architecture Review Board to ensure proper and consistent execution of governance
- Ensure continual improvement of the practice
Candidates will possess:
- 10+ years of Enterprise Architecture experience
- 5+ years of Business Architecture and Planning experience
- Previous leadership responsibilities, including mentoring and coaching others
- In-depth knowledge of Enterprise Architecture frameworks and standards including TOGAF and/or Zachman
- Extensive experience helping organizations build Enterprise Architecture capabilities (process, people, technology, information, etc.)
- Consulting experience at the intersection of Business and IT Strategy
- Business process analysis/engineering, planning and improvement domain expertise
- Broad, enterprise-wide view of the business and appreciation for strategy, processes and capabilities, enabling technologies, and governance
- Proven ability to recognize structural issues within the organization, functional interdependencies and cross-silo redundancies (which may exist in role alignment, process gaps and overlaps, and/or business capability maturity gaps)
- Demonstrated ability to apply architectural principles, methods, and tools to business challenges
- Broad understanding of technology and how it's used to drive business growth and/or efficiencies
- Ability to assimilate and correlate disconnected documentation and drawings, and articulate their collective relevance to the organization and to high-priority business issues
- Ability to visualize and create high-level models (rigorous information-rich diagrams) that can be used in future analysis to extend and mature the business architecture
- Experience developing and using these high-level models to collect, aggregate or disaggregate complex and conflicting information about the business
- Extensive experience planning and deploying either business or IT initiatives (preference for both)
- Experience modeling business processes using a variety of tools and techniques (preference for Casewise)
- Exceptional communication skills and the demonstrable ability to communicate appropriately at all levels of the organization (this includes written and verbal communications as well as visualizations)
- Ability to act as liaison conveying information in suitably accurate models between the business unit and their counterparts within Information Technology (* Note: The scope of this information includes business requirements, data constraints, business rules, models of strategy and motivation, processes, accountabilities, and many other business and IT operational needs)
- Strong situational analysis and decision making abilities
- Demonstrated success helping to drive organizational change
- Prior experience creating financial models (e.g., CBAs, break-evens, revenue streams, NPV, etc)
- Proven mentoring, influencing and negotiation skills
