As a Lead Software Engineer, you would be involved in leading a team of engineers to define, drive and deliver the software engineering of REST-based services to support the Optum Digital Intelligence Network (ODIN) product. The ODIN product will provide web and mobile solutions to meet a wide range of consumer needs, including personal health management, benefit management and health finance management functions.



Responsibilities

Lead a team of software engineers for one or more Agile scrum teams assigned to work on the ODIN project.

Be a principle contributor to the design and architecture to enable secure, scalable, and maintainable services.

Develop best-in class REST services to support our broad array of product needs

Provide coaching, mentoring, and software engineering best practices to junior software engineers.

Develop reusable patterns that will enable team velocity.

Collaborate on the design with other team members and product owners, both inside and outside the scrum team.

Estimate engineering work effort for engineering team.

Collaborate with other on the use of services in other systems, including UI developers to integrate services within front end designs.

Conduct design and code reviews to ensure code developed meets coding best practices guidelines, unit testing, security, scalability and maintainability guidelines.

Drive a quality mindset within the team.

Requirements;

 

BS Degree in Computer Science or Related field

 

3 years experience as a Lead Developer or leading a team of Java developers

 

6+ years Java/J2EE experience

 

3 Years experience with Spring/Hibernate Framework

 

3 years developing RESTful and/or SOAP services and/or service wrappers

 

Ability to collaborate effectively with a broad array of business partners

 

Demonstrated success building design patterns and software engineering best practices.

 

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

 

Excellent problem solving skills

 

You are passionate about what you do, you have technology in your DNA.

 

Assets

 

Experience with Agile Methodology

 

Prior Experience with Commercial software development and/or healthcare industry experience

 

Experience with CXF, OSGI, Layer7/OAuth a plus
