The mission of the Audit Department is to provide independent, objective assurance services designed to add value to the Company by supporting the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors in fulfilling its oversight role.  The Audit Department helps the Company accomplish its objectives by applying a systematic, disciplined approach to the evaluation and improvement of the effectiveness of risk management, control and governance processes and promoting a strong control environment.  The Department analyzes the development, sale, marketing and operational administration of insurance and investment products, the preparation of financial statements and disclosures, as well as reviews compliance with complex legal and regulatory requirements.

 

An opening is currently available for an experienced audit professional within our Internal Audit Department. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, highly diversified financial environment to identify and assess risk and controls, plan and execute audits.  As an audit manager, this individual will be part of an integrated team primarily providing audit coverage for areas within the Prudential’s International Insurance (PII) operations outside of Japan and Korea, PII corporate functions primarily located in Newark, NJ, and the Corporate Compliance functions.  The candidate will also have the opportunity to assist in auditing other domestic operations and corporate functions.  The position participates in all aspects of the audit process including the planning, risk assessment, control analysis, testing, issue development and reporting phases. This individual is also expected to engage in ongoing dialogue with business unit management and various control partners to identify and assess risks and controls.

 

The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 8-10 years of audit experience or experience performing compliance or regulatory inspection related roles within the financial services industry. Qualifications include:

• Prior experience in auditing or inspecting compliance functions including anti-money laundering (AML), OFAC, gift and entertainment, pay to play, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and market conduct

• Strong track record of identifying and remediating compliance issues

• Knowledge and practical implementation of SEC, FINRA, Federal Reserve, Department of Treasury or State Insurance related laws and regulations

• Solid understanding of the COSO framework, risk assessment, control analysis and audit methodologies

• Strong project management skills with the ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities

• Experience working effectively both independently as well as in a team environment

• Experience leading teams with a proven record of developing junior associates

• Outstanding communication skills, both oral and written

• Ability to effectively and confidently discuss audit issues with management and develop business-focused recommendations

• Ability to partner effectively with management, external auditors and control partners

• Business related Bachelor’s degree is required. Certification in compliance or audit related disciplines is a plus (CIA, CFE, CAMS, CPA, AIRC)

This position is based in Newark, New Jersey; but will require international travel with the possibility for some travel within the state of New Jersey or to other domestic locations. Travel is expected to be 30% – 40%.
