Functions effectively as a member of the rehabilitation team.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Evaluates patient’s speech, language, cognitive/communicative and oral-pharyngeal status meeting established standards.
- Provides effective and appropriate treatment so that functional outcomes are achieved.
- Completes documentation meeting departmental standards for content, accuracy, and timeliness.
- Includes family/caregiver in patient care and provides effective education appropriate for learning needs of patient and family.
- Serves as a resource and mentor to other staff, providing orientation, inservices, and clinical guidance as requested.
- Provides supervision to Speech-Language Pathology Aides, Speech-Language Pathologist Clinical Fellow/Paid Clinical Experience, Speech-Language Pathologist Level I, and Speech-Language Pathology interns, as assigned.
- While clinical staff may serve a specific patient population, they have the potential to care for patients within the age population range served at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. Clinical staff will have competencies that will incorporate age specific guidelines.
- The licensed care giver includes family/caregiver in patient care and provides effective education appropriate for learning needs of patient and family.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's Degree in Communication Disorders/Speech-Language Pathology required.
- Must have Proof of Georgia licensure in Speech-Language Pathology or eligible for Georgia licensure and proof of application; Certificate of Clinical Competence by the American-Speech-Language-Hearing Association in Speech-Language Pathology
- BLS Certification required within 30 days of hire
- Knowledge of pediatric theory and practice - meets requirements as established for Speech-Language Pathologist Clinical Ladder Level II.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills for effective communication of information and positive interpersonal skills and ability to function in an interdisciplinary environment.
- A Minimum of three years pediatric experience or related experience in speech-language pathology with a wide range of pediatric populations strongly preferred.
- Supervisory experience also preferred.
- Must be able to successfully pass the Basic Windows Skill Assessment at 80% or higher rating within 30 days of date of hire.
