Business Relationship Architect

This position will provide leadership and direction to the Annuities Information Technology organization related to the development of effective technology strategy and business solution candidates for the Prudential Annuities business. Direct interaction and planning with all Annuities related business partners would be required.
As part of the Annuity IT Planning & Strategy team, the Business Architect will work with the Enterprise and Solution Architects to apply the Reference Architecture, IT Strategy and Roadmap for the best possible technical solution for the Annuities business. This includes understanding existing, new and emerging technologies, working closely with business areas in understanding business needs and developing the design and implementation plan for the achievement of business objectives. This individual will focus on improving cost-effectiveness and delivery of technical solutions and services. He/she will have a strong sense of urgency and be able to plan and deliver high quality solutions in a fast-paced environment while developing and maintaining a respectful, educational, supportive environment with a focus on customer's needs. Strong leadership and creative visionary thinking is expected.
Principal elements of the architecture role include:
- Provides input and direction to evolve a future state architecture that achieves business goals
- Consulted to provide input in support of architecture reviews of all major application development projects
- Mentor other individuals for architecture best practices
- Work with business partners and Annuity IT organization as necessary to ensure Annuities business strategy is defined
- Understands industry trends and plan for adoption where appropriate
- Excellent people leadership skills are required
- The ability to build, manage, motivate and inspire a team of highly intelligent technologists
- Structured work habits and excellent time management skills
- Strong experience in architecture and design of a variety of technologies, IT processes/frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, COBIT, CMMI)
- Solid background with hands on experience in component based design
- Technical/architectural experience
- Proven track record leading highly effective teams in defining and delivering architecture solutions and systems architectures
- Proven track record in consistent and timely delivery of high quality products and services within budget
- Excellent oral, written and presentation skills to effectively decompose and communicate complex technical and architectural concepts
- The candidate must have the ability to understand and execute strategic, tactical and operational business requirements into effective architectures and designs through the use of new or enhanced technology products and services to support the business objectives
- Responsive, and manage effectively critical working relationships with co-workers
- Positive thinking, can-do attitude, initiative, and ability to see the whole picture and integrate multiple points of view for the optimal overall solution
- Customer focus to understand that technology is a means to an end and aligns business strategy and objectives with technology solutions
- Ability to conceptualize and develop alternative solution approaches, articulating the benefits and tradeoffs of each solution
- Takes accountability and is willing to take positions assertively, make decisions and take action
- Manages customer expectations
- Possesses the ability to interact equally well with experts from multiple disciplines, both technical and non-technical. Listens effectively and articulates complex technology alternatives in ways appropriate for audience
- 10+ years experience in technology leadership, preferably within a large insurance company or consulting organization, knowledge of Annuities and Financial Services a strong plus
- Demonstrated thought leadership and technology management skills as well as excellent proficiency in all communications methods
- Strong relationship and interpersonal skills
- Very strong customer service orientation
- Experience leading large-scale technical projects and programs
- Strong problem analysis and solution negotiation experience
- Development of relationships with key clients and service providers
- Strong verbal and written communication skills (cross-functionally and interdepartmentally)
- Strong analytical, organizational, prioritization and time management skills
- Bachelors degree in technology related discipline desired
- Relevant industry experience preferred
- Experience in forming strategic partnerships with functional technology and business executives
