Prudential International Insurance (PII) Compliance has an opening in Newark, New Jersey, for a Compliance Analyst to support its International Insurance business division. International Insurance currently operates in Argentina, Brazil, China, India, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Poland, South Korea and Taiwan, as well as maintains a Representative Office in China, a regional office in Singapore, and a regional office in Brazil. All business is conducted in local language.
The scope and the responsibilities of this position will not be static. As the business needs and compliance objectives for the division change over time, the responsibilities of this position will be expected to evolve in order to meet the changing landscape of departmental deliverables.
Skills critical to this position include proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word, strong analytical and communication skills, detail oriented and the ability to successfully partner with associates of all levels, including senior members of the Division’s leadership team located both in the U.S. and international locations.
A demonstrated ability to work across and within cultural-sensitivities while understanding and recognizing business objectives is an important component of this position.
This position will report to a Director, International Insurance Compliance.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Compile and analyze various PII compliance-related reports, with a primary focus on the quarterly Performance Measures Report. Perform quality reviews of the reports to ensure accuracy and completeness, as well as detect trends and emerging compliance issues.
- Identify and implement improvements to existing compliance reporting processes.
- Provide support to compliance unit management in the supervision of PII’s compliance program (both in the home office and at local company level) including, but not limited to, compliance policies and procedures, training and marketing material review.
- Assist compliance unit management with issues surfaced during internal and external audits, regulatory examinations, compliance reviews and other control activities.
- Monitor issues identified, and evaluate and document whether local management has properly addressed them. Manage the administration of supporting files for the documentation.
- Assist the International Insurance Compliance team in rolling out and implementing International Division-wide Compliance projects and initiatives (e.g., Compliance Risk Assessments, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, Anti-Money Laundering, and Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption initiatives).
- Follow up on open issues identified in the day-to-day activities of the team.
- Minimum college undergraduate degree desired, advanced education or certifications preferred
- 3 or more years of compliance, legal, internal control (audit or risk management) or related-business experience is strongly preferred
- Proficiency in using MS Software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent research and analytical skills
- Knowledge of life insurance products and business processes desired, but not required
- Must be able to exercise sound judgment and discretion in identifying, selectively escalating and resolving issues
- Previous experience working in an international organization or other multi-lingual, multi-cultural environment desirable
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- Must be highly motivated and detail-oriented self-starter, with a strong work ethic
- Must be a team player and flexible
Some international travel may be required.
