Summary Statement:
Under the direction of the Director of Category Leadership & Shopper Insights provides business insights and category development recommendations through category analysis to assigned Kraft Customers and their merchandising organizations. The Manager Category Leadership identifies and addresses new and existing business opportunities across all assigned categories and customer formats. The Manager Category Leadership ensures that customer, consumer, and internal information are used to build knowledge and insights that can be used to improve overall category performance and results.
The position is the representative of the CBT sales team to the customer and supports the overall application of category management principles to business issues, identifying category business opportunities and providing an assessment of the merchandising controllables, including promotion, and assortment. The position also coordinates information and category management related activities that are conducted in conjunction with category management project.
The Manager Category Leadership is an information expert, highly skilled in the use of analytical tools, and can execute the grocery industry category management review eight-step process with very limited supervision. In addition, the Manager Category Leadership can represent and explain the process independently to Buyers and Customer senior management as needed.
 
Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
  • Region expert in the analysis of syndicated (Nielsen / IRI) data and household panel data leading to key insights and business recommendations on the key sales controllables of distribution and assortment, pricing, and promotion.
  • Develops impactful customer specific category development recommendations in support of key business building initiatives.
  • Has a broad understanding of Kraft and category businesses and key industry and category drivers.
  • Leads the identification of category / customer business opportunities and develops the recommendations for customer category development initiatives.
  • Establishes customer category priorities that are consistent with goals and objectives as defined by the customer.

  • Category Development representative to insure that customer, consumer, and category insights are delivered for fact based decision-making. Understands, applies, and can explain category management best practices and the Kraft streamlined category management process.
