Job Description
The Sr. Manager Category Leadership (SMCL) reports to the Associate Director, Category Leadership. The SMCL will own creation and population of core content for the CLPs (Category Leadership Platforms) stories. The SMCL will work cross-functionally with, but not limited to, the Associate Director of Shopper Insights, Marketing, Category Sales, and Field Sales. The individual will develop and provide relevant analytics to the DSMP (Distribution, Shelf, Merchandising and Promotion) process for assigned core categories and/or customers. Duties include maintaining and updating core capabilities including assortment, planogram, merchandising and pricing tools to ensure ongoing usability for the field teams. This individual will lead the coordination of all Category Leadership communication events and vehicles and ensure strong linkage between the BU and field sales teams. This individual will be an advocate for insights and category perspective, while being the voice of the customer to internal teams.
Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
Defines category leadership platforms for assigned categories and/or key customers bringing go to market strategy to life for Kraft Cheese & Dairy
- Provide input into development of Cheese sales strategic plan and annual growth platforms; translate for field sales
- Champion the evolution of dairy aisle architecture
- Infuse category perspective to any Cheese BU deliverables for the field teams via sell stories, defense stories, competitive assessment, etc.
- Drive retail conversion / DSMPs with account teams
- Engage in category reviews for assigned categories/customers; contribute BU/category perspective based on insights and available information resources
- Utilizes retailer industry knowledge, analytical skills/insights (scan, panel, etc.) and sales team partnerships to ensure core category platforms/stories are developed with the category and customer in mind
- Direct outside suppliers as appropriate; gains familiarity with broader set of issues, and analytic tools to be effective/independent problem-solver
- Assists in identifying category issues by leveraging analytic framework to target tactical opportunities
- Ensure models and supporting data are current for all Category Leadership supporting tools
- Develops knowledge of business activities for pro-active contributions to sales plan development
- Creates, maintains and updates all published Category Leadership content including portal, neighborhood and Sales New News; active contributor to Cheese BU training sessions and meetings with/for the field
Bachelor's degree, Master's preferred
Strong Analytical Skills
Strong problem solving and creativity
Minimum 7 years Sales experience
4+ years Finance experience
Strong Micrisoft Office/Excel skills
