This position ensures effective implementation and execution of the company Quality Chain Management System at assigned Kraft Foods Meals & Desserts internal and external plants including on-site distribution and local storage sites. The position provides quality leadership ensuring that Kraft Foods quality standards and policies are clearly defined; programs are developed, standardized, understood and met by all manufacturing sites.
The candidate provides visible quality leadership ensuring that Kraft Foods quality standards are understood and met. Position establishes effective compliance mechanisms to ensure compliance to food safety, quality and regulatory requirements e.g. routine data reviews, KPI’s, on site evaluations. This position ensures that best practices are replicated across assigned plants and throughout Meals & Desserts. This position is accountable for Kraft internal quality audit preparedness, including meeting all regulatory requirements. This position must ensure that quality management and team members are trained to efficiently and effectively execute their quality responsibilities. This position also leads Continuous Improvement strategy for conformance quality and best in class cost of quality by utilizing L6S tools.
Responsibilities:
- Leads effective implementation of Quality Chain Management System (QCMS) at specific internal manufacturing sites, ensures effective on-going management of the overall quality systems
- Ensures that quality policies, programs, procedures, and systems are effectively implemented across internal plants
- Conducts detailed quality gap assessments at internal Kraft plants in preparation for Kraft Internal QCMS Audits
- Assists and ensure completion of all preventative actions identified in preparation for Kraft internal audits
- Assists in development and implementation of appropriate corrective actions for all Kraft Quality audit findings
- Conducts on-site verification visits to confirm corrective actions from audit are completed and verify effectiveness
- Develops strategy and action plans to maintain plants FSSC 22000 certification
- Ensures plant execution of food safety plans are in accordance with all Food Regulatory Agencies such as FDA and State agencies, including preparation for FSMA requirements
- Supports ISC Quality Pillar implementation across the Cheese and Dairy BU
- Identifies & ensure implementation of best practices/standard work opportunities across internal plants
- Partners with Category Quality lead to ensure quality programs align with commercialization and complaint reduction initiatives
- Assists plants with identification of quality capital needs that will improve infrastructure and the overall manufacturing environment
- Plant Quality Organization Leadership
- Ensures internal plant core training and certification processes for plant quality organization
- Ensures Plant Quality leaders are properly trained and understand their roles/responsibilities
- Assists in delivering manufacturing quality goals for each plant and managing performance, including development of quality leaders.
- Coaching/development of plant quality leaders in regards to quality and statistical tools
- Quality Issues Resolution
- Ensures corrective actions are taken and address root cause in response to significant Food Safety, Regulatory Compliance and Quality issues (includes audits).
- As needed, lead SSMT investigation for BU issues
- Escalate and assist in early warning notification per policy
- Drive Continuous Improvement
- Track, report, and review internal Manufacturing Quality Performance Indicators for assigned internal plants on a regular basis to drive continuous improvement
- Drives initiatives to manage cost of quality across the BU plant network
- Coach’s plant quality leaders to drive improvement utilizing statistical tools to improve processes
- Coach’s plant quality leaders to conduct effective root cause analysis and implement corrective action and preventative action
- Works with category quality leads to identify best practices and implement continuous improvement opportunities driving commercialization excellence across all BU plant

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
- This position is preferably located in Northfield, however based on position needs can be based out of one of the field offices. Travel 60%-80%
- BS degree in Food Science, Engineering, Microbiology, Chemistry or other related Sciences.
- 7 years Quality/ Operations/R&D
- Auditing experience preferred
- Advanced knowledge of HACCP, Quality systems (ISO, GFSI), procedures & policies desired
- Experience in Lean Six Sigma, or MSA, Statistics would be preferred
- Experience in a plant quality leadership role or corporate Quality experience preferred
TECHNICAL OR OPERATIONAL EXPERIENCE:
- Food Safety and Regulatory requirements
- Fundamental statistics (DMAIC Process/DFSS/Lean/metrology/MSA/sampling procedures)
- CQE preferred
- HACCP certified preferred
- Sanitation knowledge
