Mechanic II (I&E Tech II)

This position will maintain and repair electrical, instrumentation, and analyzer equipment, including troubleshooting, preparation and planning, and coordinating with other groups and contractors to complete assigned work. All work will be performed in accordance with established schedules, building codes, safety procedures and in an environmentally sound manner.

 

Repairs, maintains, and installs electrical systems and equipment following all safety procedures, electrical codes, manuals, schematic drawings, diagrams, and blueprints. Demonstrates knowledge of basic grounding and shielding, electricity, and electrical wiring and raceway systems. Uses basic electrical meters and equipment to test equipment. Maintains and repairs various types of electrical components.

 

Maintains and repairs electronic and pneumatic instrumentation. Possesses a basic understanding and application of instrumentation math, and units of measurement. Demonstrates knowledge of flow, pressure, temperature, and level instrumentation. Maintains and troubleshoots various types of solenoid valves, switches, meters, indicators, and temperature sensors. Uses test equipment and performs routine calibrations. Demonstrates ability to read and interpret P&IDs, loop drawings, and wiring schematics.

Maintains and repairs a variety of emission monitoring instrumentation and process analyzers. Reviews and directs contractor analytical equipment installations. Maintains maintenance records on all analyzers. Maintains and manages analyzer spare parts inventory. Provides data logs, maintenance records and reports as necessary to the EH&S Department. Develops, improves, and implements analyzer P.M.'s. Performs all other miscellaneous duties as assigned. Maintains a clean and safe working environment.  Effectively communicates all daily activities to supervision.

 

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.

• Two years experience installing, repairing and maintaining assorted types of electrical systems required OR a technical degree in an electrical field (e.g., Associates degree in Electrical Technology)

• Two years experience as an Instrument Technician maintaining instrument equipment in the petrochemical industry required OR a degree in an instrumentation field.

• Must have working knowledge of national electric code, 480V electrical systems, and 5KV, 13.8 electrical systems. 

 

Preferences:

 

• In addition to field experience, degrees/diplomas in electrical, instrumentation and/or analyzer field preferred

• Two years experience as an Analyzer Technician maintaining equipment in petrochemical industry preferred

• New projects and start-up experience a plus

• Supervisor experience is an asset
