The Global Alliance Manager for the SDN Ecosystem will be part of the SDN Ecosystem team, responsible for defining, building, operating and promoting a new HP Enterprise application store, as a key member of a distributed virtual team.  From an understanding of developer, customer and channel partner needs/insights, develop a set of market requirements for the store; collaborate with other groups across HP to validate; then work with web services and marketing teams to implement.  Once launched; drive adoption and awareness of the store with alliance partners, the development community, and our joint customer base.

 

The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of consumer and ideally enterprise application stores or marketplaces; 2 tier channel distribution models; financial modelling.  An understanding of the emerging model of software defined networking (SDN) will be a key foundation for the role. A solid understanding of the business model, relationship and tensions between an app developer and platform vendor (HP) is required.

 

A base technical knowledge of routing and switching, Data Center technology, application delivery technology such as L4-L7 load balancing and WAN optimization would also be advantageous.  A basic understanding of software development techniques, tools and terminology (SDK, RESTful API, Java OSGi) will be valuable.

 

As a role that requires change management and strong influencing skills the candidate will need to be able to understand and explain the needs of developers to functions across HP for which this community is new and unknown.

 

Responsibilities will include building requirements documents, reviewing design documents, negotiating and building bridges with other functions (marketing, finance, support, sales, channel etc), supporting developer's questions, promoting the store at events (online and offline), negotiating and explaining fees, etc.

 

Roles and Responsibilities include:

·         Creating a market requirements document for the AppStore, based on input from a variety of sources

·         Definition of the financial, channel, sales and commission model for the store

·         Working with web services team to develop and test the store

·         Working with channel and sales to drive promotion of the store and apps within

·         Working with SDN ecosystem partners/developers to convince them of the benefit of offering their apps via the store

·         Working with HP EG group for cross-BU to align AppStore implementations.

·         Working with HP services team to integrate HP services associated to applications

·         Drive store development and testing, and drive training development with corresponding Marketing team and lead the development of documentation.

·         Representing HP SDN alliance team in all kinds of developer engagements, such as code-a-thons and trade-shows, including public speaking

·         Planning, partnering and collaborating with all internal sales and marketing teams in executing the launch and ongoing promotional activities

 

Qualifications

·         Very strong communication skills – both written and verbal.

·         Understanding of Switching and Routing concepts (TCP/IP), L4-L7 Load balancing technology, WAN optimization, security, VDI, Virtualization technology, Software Defined Networking(Openflow, OpenStack), including their trends and challenges.

·         Business understanding of developer and customer challenges, marketplace competitive dynamics and adjacent networking business opportunities

·         Able to roll up sleeves and manage execution of evolving requirements.

·         Capable of autonomously taking on planning and execution of various work streams.

·         Drive accountability in goal setting and execution.

·         3+ years' experience in networking industry

·         Team player. Strong drive. Self-starter. Willing to take a leadership role in driving initiatives, working across organizations and structuring approaches to new opportunities.

·         Technical undergraduate degree and an MBA or other graduate degree is desirable.

·         Must be able to work effectively in a geographically-distributed team using enterprise collaboration tools such as enterprise social networks, Microsoft Lync, Sharepoint, OneNote etc.
