AREVA Federal Services LLC (AFS):
 
AREVA Federal Services LLC (AFS) is a world-class nuclear engineering services and operations contractor which was established to serve the Federal Government, specifically the Department of Energy (DOE) and its contractors, by combining the capabilities, technologies, and resources from multiple AREVA companies.  AREVA offers international experience in all aspects of the nuclear fuel cycle and has experience and capabilities in process development, engineering, design, construction, fabrication, and operations of nuclear waste management facilities and technologies.

AFS Richland Engineering Organization:
 
The AFS Richland Engineering organization is responsible for the design, analysis, fabrication, testing, and deployment of systems and technologies to recover, process, handle and store radioactive waste at the Hanford Site and other DOE facilities.  Additionally, the organization is responsible for providing technical support to the Hanford Site primary contractors.
 
Job Description:
 
AREVA Federal Services LLC, a subsidiary of AREVA, is seeking an Electrical Engineer IV - Advisory for our Richland, WA location.  
 
Responsibilities and duties include: 
  • Under broad supervision, performs complex engineering assignments requiring originality, ingenuity and the development of new methods or resolution of conflicting objectives.
  • Provides advanced technical support to and works with multiple disciplinary teams to achieve project objectives.
  • Reviews progress and updates management, as needed.
  • Discipline lead for electrical distribution and lighting design for unique one-of-a-kind modular systems, including all areas of the product lifecycle from specification, design, calculations, documentation, procurement, manufacturing, assembly, testing, delivery, training and commissioning support.
  • Work in a team-based environment to assist other engineers with the design of electrical power and lighting distribution systems for nuclear applications, as well as assisting clients in defining system requirements.
  • Prepare documentation such as design and functional requirements, specifications, drawings, calculations, test procedures, and other supporting documentation.
  • Evaluate design alternatives and resolve complex field problems.
  • Performs a variety of complex engineering assignments typically in areas of design, development, analysis, evaluation, testing, preparation of specifications, execution of field tasks and resolution of field problems.
  • Receives minimal assistance and instruction on most assignments and solutions.
  • Ensures compliance with government, organization and customer engineering standards.
  • Independently evaluates, selects and applies a variety of technical techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgment in making complex adaptations and modifications.
  • Develops new or adapted products, methods, systems or models to provide added value solutions to customers.
  • Researches and assesses best practices, proposing methods and improvements.
  • Works on special projects and perform other related duties and tasks, as required.
All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity.  Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position. 
  • BS in Electrical Engineering plus a minimum of 5 - 7 years engineering experience in the nuclear industry.  
  • Experience implementing and interpretating NEC requirements and IEEE codes and standards into a finished product.
  • Previous related design experience required.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills necessary.
  • Possesses comprehensive knowledge in particular field of specialization and has completed significant assignments.
  • Has well-developed leadership qualities.
  • Works well in team and individual based development environments.
  • Experience designing electrical distribution systems; reviewing design media; producing engineering studies; plant design change documentation; providing support during installation, testing, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge and experience applying NQA-1, government and national codes and standards.

  • Ability to develop and maintain good interpersonal relationships.

  • Washington State PE License

Some (approx. 2-3 weeks per year) travel required.
