Shaw AREVA MOX Services, LLC is a consortium of companies based in Aiken, SC and formed to advance the Department of Energy's mission to dispose of surplus weapon grade plutonium.  The plutonium is disposed of by mixing it with uranium and forming a mixed oxide (MOX) fuel for use in existing nuclear reactors. After the MOX fuel is irradiated in the reactor, the plutonium can no longer be used for nuclear weapons. AREVA Federal Services provides resources to MOX Services for the design, construction, licensing and operations of the MOX Fuel Fabrication Facility (MFFF) to be built at the Savannah River Site.  Resources provided are in the following disciplines: Licensing, ES&H, Integrated Safety Analysis, QA, Engineering Assurance, Process Engineering, Systems Engineering, Design and Engineering (Structural, Electrical, I &C, Seismic, Nuclear Criticality, Piping, Mechanical, HVAC), Project Safety, Procurement, Project Controls, Software Design, Training, Records Management, Operations, and Information Technology.

AREVA Federal Services LLC, a subsidiary of AREVA, is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineering Specialist III.
 
This is a position within the Process Unit Design and Commissioning (PUDC) Engineering Organization for the MOX Fuel Fabrication Facility (MFFF) Project. This position will be responsible for a variety of mechanical engineering duties associated with the Title III Engineering support of glovebox systems within the process of the MOX Fuel Fabrication Facility (MFFF) being constructed at the Savannah River Site in Aiken, SC. Processing Unit Design and Commissioning (PUDC) Title III Engineering is responsible for Fabrication, Assembly, and Startup Support for all of the MFFF Process Equipment. This support may include modification/production of any applicable design documents (i.e. drawings, bills of materials, calculations, component datasheets) via project approved Engineering Change processes.  
 
The selected individual will be expected to:
  • Interface with domestic/foreign suppliers and select mechanical equipment (pumps, regulators, valves, filters, etc.) utilized in process unit equipment
  • Modify/develop data sheets for system equipment.
  • Modify/develop acceptable pipe/tubing system components to be utilized in specific applications.
  • Write/revise technical documents and procedures.
  • Interface with Title III Engineering discipline personnel (electrical, structural) with respect to specific design issues.
  • Interface with and support Fabrication Engineers and Support Engineers within the Fabrication Group.
  • Interface with Assembly and Startup Engineers as a troubleshooting resource, as equipment is received by the Fabrication Group.
  • Interface with Construction Engineers in support of process equipment installation work.
  • Interface with Responsible Engineers and Commercial Grade Dedication Group regarding fabrication/procurement of nuclear safety related equipment.
  • Interface with other disciplines regarding utility needs (e.g. chilled water, ventilation, etc.)
  • Interface with project Integrated Safety Analysis personnel to ensure selected equipment and subsystem configurations are consistent with project safety strategy.
  • Reviewing project documentation to ensure requirements traceability.
  • Review glovebox design documentation (drawings, technical documents, etc.)
  • Review P&ID's and other fluid utility schematics.
  • Maintain and provide status and updates to supervision and management.
