National Heritage Academies is seeking a TEACHER IN RESIDENCE (TIR) at Regent Park Scholars Charter Academy located in Detroit, Michigan.

National Heritage Academies (NHA) partners with community groups to build and operate public charter schools. Founded in 1995, today NHA partners with 80 K-8 schools in 9 states serving over 50,000 students. NHA is one of the largest charter school management organizations designed to eliminate achievement gaps and prepare our students for success in high school, college and beyond.

This is a great opportunity to make a difference working with at-risk students. This is a temporary position for the 2014/2015 school year but has the potential of leading towards full-time employment for those who make a strong contribution as a TIR.

Responsibilities
The TIR is a full-time teaching position that provides instructional support as needed throughout the school year. Daily responsibilities could include the following:
• Team teaching
• Small group instruction
• One-on-one instruction
• Planning support
• Substitute teaching
Qualified candidates must hold a valid teaching license issued by the State of Michigan for K-5 All, K-8 self-contained classroom.
 
 
Candidates with an out-of-state license do not qualify for this position.
 
 
NHA prefers candidates that have experience working with at-risk students in an urban environment.
