Job Summary and Mission
Starbucks is looking for a seasoned and creative leader who is passionate about delivering a vision for how data is used across the organization to deliver critical insights, and the Starbucks Digital Experience.
 
Candidates should be passionate about the potential for data-driven marketing to achieve business objectives by understanding how best to meet customer objectives. 
 
This role will Develop global, company-wide strategy for the collection and respectful use of customer data and will establish the Enterprise Data Governance model, leading the customer data strategy governance Community of Practice. Models and acts in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles.
 
Ideal candidates will have a demonstrated history of:
 
  • Developing data governance frameworks with a background in marketing privacy
  • Developing cross-channel, data-driven marketing strategies with a focus in the digital space
  • Creating detailed data-use standards and requirements for marketing campaigns and technology programs
  • Launching enterprise change management programs to embed new processes and procedures within an organization
 
Summary of Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
 
Leadership - Setting goals for the work group, developing organizational capability, and modeling how we work together:
 
- Identifies and communicates key responsibilities and practices to ensure the immediate team of direct reports promotes a successful attitude, confidence in leadership, and teamwork to achieve business results.

- Supports the implementation of company programs to ensure the success of the Company.
- Lead a cross-functional business and technology team charged with establishing data collection, use, and governance policies including:

 

    • Strategy:  Define data ownership and usage standards and policies including processes and procedures for the creation, movement, usage, storage, retention, ownership and disposal of customer information. 
    • Policy:  Create, implement and oversee policies for how data will be collected, stored, managed and distributed.  Encompasses: Master Data Management standards and policies, customer data privacy policy, data quality, metadata, reference data, unstructured data, points of data consolidation and transformation, and more.
    • Process: Define data usage, management and resolution processes.
    • Governance:  Establish the Enterprise Data Governance model, and lead the customer data strategy governance Community of Practice.
    • Stewardship:  Facilitate data stewardship among both business and technical practitioners. Establish protocol for ad hoc reviews of existing data standards.  Lead the Data Governance Community of Practice.
Planning and Execution - Developing strategic and operational plans for the work group, managing execution, and measuring results:
 
- Define data ownership and usage standards and policies including processes and procedures for the creation, movement, usage, storage, retention, ownership and disposal of customer information.
- Create, implement and oversee policies for how customer data will be collected, stored, managed and distributed.  Encompasses: Master Data Management standards and policies, customer data privacy policy, data quality, metadata, reference data, unstructured data, points of data consolidation and transformation, and more.
- Develops annual operating plan and budget, and quarterly forecast updates.
- Develops strategic and operational plans for the business unit, managing execution, and measuring results.
- Plans and manages business unit and department processes and practices to ensure that programs are aligned with company business goals and objectives.
- Prepares, communicates and educates client groups and team on changes in policies and practices within the organization.
- Provides consulting and support to ensure use and maintenance of correct management tools and processes.
