Description:

The Permian Basin Asset Teams have developed a long term growth plan that focuses on the redevelopment of COP’s core oil assets in the Permian Basin. The redevelopment program involves infill drilling programs, recompletions to secondary targets, the initiation and/or reactivation of waterfloods and initiating CO2 EOR floods in high graded reservoirs. The program has successfully grown reserves and production in each of the past 5 years. Resource studies indicate there is an additional unproven resource in excess of 1000 mmboe in these existing fields through the continued implementation of this strategy.
The Goldsmith area assets have led the Permian resurgence with production increasing from 7,000 BOED net to 17,000 BOED net in the last six years. Resource potential in excess of 100 MMBOE net has been identified in the Goldsmith area, including over 900 development drilling locations. This area remains a key strategic growth area for COP and the MCBU and has a high level of drilling, recompletion and optimization activity with active waterfloods.
This position is reservoir engineer/team lead for an integrated team tasked with adding reserves and value to the Goldsmith Area in conventional reservoirs using horizontal drilling and multi-stage stimulations. Duties include identifying and executing an annual drilling program (typically 12-14 wells per year) that starts in 3Q 2013 and runs through the LRP plan period. Typical capex is $40-100 MM/yr.
