POSITION SUMMARY:
The Regional Business Development Manager will be responsible for identifying new potential vertical markets and customers to develop Portescap’s funnel of opportunities to meet double digit sales growth expectations.
 
 
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
Opportunity Funnel Development and Customer Management (80%):
·         Research, engage and develop new customers to grow the funnel of business opportunities necessary for sustainable double digit growth. This encompasses researching prospects through on-line tools such as LinkedIn, Jigsaw, Google, as well as identifying new customers at tradeshows.
·         Identify and characterize customer product needs and communicate them to the application support team.
·         Track and communicate progress status of on-going business opportunities.
·         Maintain SalesForce.com database to reflect current status and provide visibility to the organization regarding open business opportunities.
 
·         In concert with Key Account Managers, leverage relationship with existing customers and distributor partners to develop business.
·         Act as the interface between customers/prospects and the customer service and technical support teams.
·         Establish and maintain a master action plan of all on-going activities.
·         Follow-up on leads from a variety of sources.
 
 
Additional Duties & Responsibilities (20%):
·         In support of Portescap’s annual Strategic Planning activities led by the Strategic Business Development Manager, the Business Development Manager will assist in the formulation and communication of existing/new market area’s unmet needs, as well asmacro-level identified market trends.
·         In support of branding and lead generation activities led by the Marketing Department, the Business Development Manager may occasionally provide inputs toward content creation in relation with the new business areas he/she is cultivating.
·         Supports the development of market based product road maps across markets or applications by gathering customer needs, in conjunction with Sales and Product Marketing.
 
Qualifications/Skills:
A successful candidate in this role will need to be capable to perform the above described duties satisfactorily. Additionally, other attributes for success in this position are:
 
·         Ability to  gather and translate the Voice Of Customer
·         Effective communication value selling skill over short phone conversation
·         Ability to build & present sound business plans
·         Balance funnel expansion and funnel execution activities
·         An understanding of or ability to learn miniature motor market
·         An understanding of or ability to learn basic mechanics (Power Transmission, Efficiency, Inertia, etc.
·         A sense of urgency and prioritization while managing high potential commercial programs
·         Self-motivated & able to work in a professional environment with limited direct supervision
·         Hunting attitude (as opposed to farming)
·         Proficient aptitude to create/maintain Microsoft Office documents (MS Word, Excel, PPT)
 
Education:
o   The successful candidate will have an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. 
 
Experience:
5 years of territorial sales management with proven track record for growth through new account development.
 Managerial experience is a plus.
