Job Summary and Mission
This job contributes to Starbucks success by establishing standards and process for the field construction program to support the business goals of the company for construction and renovations.  Develops short and long term plans that are consistent with the needs and priorities of Construction and the Company. Models and acts in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles.

 

Summary of Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

 

Leadership

- Setting goals for the work group, developing organizational capability, and modeling how we work together:
- Identifies and communicates key responsibilities and practices to ensure the immediate team of direct reports promotes a successful attitude, confidence in leadership, and teamwork to achieve business results.
- Supports the implementation of company programs to ensure the success of the Company.
- Acts as key liaison between store development construction and designated business customers and builds partnerships across all organization levels.
- Manages the ongoing support and collaboration of process and tools for store development construction
- Acts as liaison between construction teams and store development to enhance ability of partners to meet objectives and metrics.
 
Planning and Execution

- Developing strategic and operational plans for the work group, managing execution, and measuring results:
 - Leads analysis to support investment decisions for business programs and products including measurement against key financial metrics and targets.
- Plans and manages business unit and department processes and practices to ensure that programs are aligned with company business goals and objectives.
- Prepares, communicates and educates client groups and team on changes in policies and practices within the organization.
- Collaborates with store development, category, and operations teams to develop integrated approaches to processes, systems and tools.
- Ensures that business unit processes are integrated with related systems in other groups. Integrates input from other business units and departments into project planning and scheduling.

 

Business Requirements

- Providing functional expertise and executing functional responsibilities:
- Meets with senior management and other key stakeholders to review program, responds to questions, and identifies areas requiring additional research or action. Provides timely responses to senior management and prepares recommended responses on corrections, adjustments and outstanding items.
- Identifies and communicates risk areas and emerging trends through research and benchmarking and develops recommendations to senior management.
- Works with cross-functional teams to improve processes, set targets, develop plans, conduct analyses, and measure results. Consults with senior management to identify process gaps, present data and propose solutions.
- Provides quantitative reports and projections that will assist in the analysis and measurement of each phase of construction.
- Ensures systems are consistent and integrated with the business practices they support. Identifies key issues and weaknesses, provides solutions for improvement, and manages the implementation of system enhancements.
- Positions the construction team to be the professional resource to all partners for building or renovating stores and resolving any construction issues that affect store operations, construction and profitability.

 

Partner Development & Team Building

- Providing partners with coaching, feedback, and developmental opportunities and building effective teams:
- Challenges and inspires partners to achieve business results.
- Develops teams and partnerships aligned with Starbucks guiding principles. Ensures partners adhere to legal and operational compliance requirements.
- Manages staff, including assigning priorities to workload, identifying long-term professional development and advocating needs of the group.
- Provides coaching, direction and leadership support to team members in order to achieve partner, business and customer results.

- Real estate experience preferred 5 years
- Experience managing medium to large complex projects  8 years
- Requirements gathering and analysis 6 years
- Analytical and problem solving in a fast paced environment 6 years
- Team and project management experience, including ability to build and lead cross function teams 5 years
- Managing others and developing professional staff  5 years


Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and negotiation skills and ability to make effective presentations to senior leaders
- Leadership skills with the ability lead and motivate others through complex projects for a global company
