Cargill Grain & Oilseed Supply Chain Americas Marketing Group trades and markets agricultural commodities and value added services to customers based in Central America, South America, and the Caribbean. GOSC AMG is looking for an Accountant to ensure compliance with Corporate Financial Minimums with special focus on: Financial US GAAP reporting, Balance Sheet reconciliation, position reporting and counterparty risk exposure for any of the BUs that AMG Accounting Miami gives services to: AMG, APBU Inc and Ocean Transportation Cargill Inc.
The position will have interaction with other areas from the BU (Trading, Trade Execution and Trade Administration) as well as corporate functions (Legal & Tax), and the other BU offices in Latin America.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Responsible for a P&L (profit and loss statement) by preparing and analyzing the end of month cash and futures contract market valuations, positions, provisions, extra invoices/credit notes.
- Participate and provide support in the analysis of financial's (P&L) and help to identify opportunities to improve accuracy and confidentially of the figures.
- Prepare the valuations of derivatives (options, futures, etc.) and freight.
- Responsible to reconcile and verify the accuracy of the Balance Sheet by preparing detailed support of contract valuations, provisions, costing, investments, debt, accounts receivables and payables, or any other entries made to various accounts.
- Ensure accurate preparation of required reports/management information to be submitted to Corporate (such as FRP, Cartesis, Tax Package, ROGI, Budget, Government Surveys, ST Debt projections, etc)
- Assist in daily activities such as position reporting, futures speculation P&L, costing analysis, and inter-company reconciliations.
- Work on value added activities and different projects using experience and knowledge acquired in the financial area.
- Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance
- 2 years experience in an accounting role
- Strong proficiency working with Excel
- Proficient in Microsoft Suites

Knowledge of accounting rules (GAAP) and finance skills.

Strong knowledge around financial minimums.
Preferred:
- Professional level fluency in written and spoken English and Spanish
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting
- Working knowledge of Trading (origination, derivatives, etc.)
- Basic understanding of Trading Business Execution (forwarding, freight, documentation, etc.)
- Knowledge of J.D. Edwards software package
