Dairy Nutritionist

Position Purpose:
Provide technical service support to customers with particular emphasis in dairy. Support Dairy Technology Leader in coordinating all activities related to the dairy nutrition program.
Principal Accountabilities:
- 25% - Provides technical support via various means of communication i.e. text, phone, email, in-person and web for customers (regional feed manufacturers, consultants, and producers) and field personnel.
- 15% - Assists in formulating nutritional products and programs for sale to customers and producers to meet their unique or complex nutritional requirements.
- 10% - Works with other nutritionists in new product development.
- 10% - Keeps abreast of the latest scientific and management discoveries in the industry and builds expertise relative to the customer base served.
- 5% - Create external communication including but not limited to newsletters, technical reports, marketing materials, and research reports.
- 5% - Develop tools for dairy nutrition and management in Microsoft Excel or other software programs.
- 20% - Maintain and update Feed Ration Balancer (FRB) and the Amino Acid and Metabolizable Protein System (AAMPS) for both internal and external users.
- 10% - Provide internal formulation support.
Essential Functions/Requirements:
- Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally(30%).
Required Qualifications:
- M.S. Degree in Dairy Nutrition
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Dairy Nutrition
- 2 years of experience in the dairy industry
- Strong background in ruminant nutrition, physiology and metabolism
- Knowledge of nutritional models
- Experience working with herd management software
- Experience with on-farm troubleshooting
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Advance knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Proven ability to successfully manage multiple ongoing projects
