Cargill Corn Milling North America is a manufacturer of value-added corn and sugar based products serving the Food, Feed and Fermentation segments. From facilities in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Tennessee and Texas, we provide a wide variety of products and services including high fructose corn syrup, corn syrups, dextrose syrups and sucrose that are used in an array of beverage, brewing, confectionery, food and pharmaceutical applications. We also produce a variety of innovative, dry corn ingredients that are used in cereals, snacks, breads, tortillas and animal feed applications. In addition, we produce fuel-grade ethanol and are a leading supplier of corn oil, acidulants, corn gluten meal and corn gluten feed products.

 
Position Overview:
 
This position is responsible for day-to-day management of operations in the Blair facility.  This includes management of production, safety, environmental, costs, non-exempt production employees, quality, and food safety.
 
Principal Accountabilities:
 
45% Review, monitor and follow-up on area results.  This includes managing department costs to remain within budget guidelines, using Root Cause Analysis (RCA) techniques to improve processes, maintenance activities and working with Process Development Group (PDG), Commercial Ops. Product line, and Terminal Management groups.  Participate in location supervisory team benchmarking, teamwork and site-wide planning and execution activities.
 
25% Manage people, process and input/product in a plant environment.  Involved in the day to day direct supervision of operators and productions activities.  Responsible for staffing, motivating and handling employee relations issues.
 
25% Maintain customer relations by ensuring product quality specifications are met.  Interface with customers on plant visits and audits.
 
5%    Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as necessary.
 
Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field (engineering, sciences, etc.) or 5+ years of operations experience.
• General knowledge of production management with understanding of plant processes and plant operational needs.
• Basic knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Food Safety, Cargill Safety, and Environmental regulations.
• Demonstrated skills of team building, conflict resolution, innovation and change within the work force.
• Effective communication (verbal, written, presentation) skills at multiple levels of Cargill and Customer organizations.

Preferred:

• Demonstrated knowledge of one or more core processes (bulk solids conveying and mixing, batch and semi-batch process operations, ingredient weighing systems, product formulation from several raw material ingredients, systematic troubleshooting, cause analysis, and correction techniques).
• Understanding of basic reliability concepts. 
• Ability to function in a team environment.
