Motivated, capable and mature RN needed for this Charge Nurse role as part of the nursing leadership team for our busy acute unit. Registered Mental Health Nurse positions are also available.
Te Whetu Tawera is the Adult Acute Inpatient Mental Health Unit for Auckland District Health Board, which serves the population of central Auckland.
Te Whetu Tawera has 58 beds in a modern purpose built facility, including a 12 bed ICU. We are situated at Auckland City Hospital in the heart of Auckland with good access to public transport and close to major shopping and entertainment centres.
With ongoing development in the care of those suffering acute episodes of mental ill health, the Charge Nurse leads a multi-disciplinary team already involved in a number of positive innovations including Releasing Time to Care, 6 Core Strategies, and supporting nursing specific activity such as PDRP. This role could be the next step in your career development or just a change of scenery, but in any circumstance, we are keen to provide a strong framework of support to assist you to accomplish your goals as well as ours.
You will be a Registered Comprehensive (with PG Cert in MH) or Psychiatric Nurse with previous experience in nursing leadership roles in mental health services. You will have a high level of understanding of the continuum of care and a commitment to the fundamental values and attitudes of modern mental health service delivery and be able to robustly evidence application of this in the clinical context. At least 5 years’ experience with PDRP L4 is required.
