This role is responsible for purchasing and managing smaller to mid-sized categories of spend within the Kraft Indirect Procurement organization or Business Units. This position will work with both the Sr. Manager and Manager to manage categories and facilitate the strategic execution process for spend categories of a certain level to include compliance, category and supplier segmentation, sourcing events, analysis, negotiations, contracting and implementation. These activities will also ensure the most optimal terms and conditions for Kraft, while not negatively impacting service or quality, and also supporting Supplier Diversity goals. The scope of this position also includes ongoing category management as a result of sourcing activities to ensure the most effective supply base design and capabilities for Kraft, and targeted supplier integration and supplier relationship management (SRM) activities as part of supply base design. This position is linked closely with a number of functional areas from an overall project management perspective, and is responsible for the delivery of specific productivity and cash flow targets in alignment with overarching goals and objectives, with a focus on Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). The scope of this position will also include risk management and contingency planning activities, with some use of market driven financial tools where appropriate, and is actively involved in ongoing market forecasting, financial planning and budget setting as related to respective spend areas. This position may also interact with Manufacturing Management at the plant level to coordinate and communicate timing and availability for key manufacturing part components. This role may manage various transactional activities as related to systems and process, and is responsible for learning, understanding and following all Kraft and Business Unit policies, in addition to all Procurement policies and procedures as part of the overarching Procurement governance model.

 

Category Management, Execution & Planning. Sourcing strategy execution, category management, delivery of financial objectives, supplier segmentation, compliance, score carding, sourcing activity facilitation, analysis, negotiations, contracting and implementation, while also focused on delivering the Kraft Supplier Diversity objectives. Sourcing activities may also include joint process improvements, volume concentration, price/cost optimization, and global sourcing where applicable. Provides category insight and expertise in multiple forums. Executes appropriate supply base design to reflect the goals and objectives of the respective category and the overall organization, while working toward the objective of supplier consolidation and keeping a Total Cost of Ownership focus. Supports and executes the Procurement and general business strategies of the Business Units to enable solutions for the respective category areas. Develops ongoing category planning to reflect changes in the supplier and industry landscape and the needs of the organization, and communicates this information on an ongoing basis. Ensures appropriate risk management, capacity and contingency plans for respective areas of responsibility, and drives to increase incorporate best in class techniques and industry benchmarks.

 

Support for Departmental Sourcing Processes. Provides spend, reporting and supplier analysis related to responsible categories. Benchmarks relevant market data to ensure continuous process improvement, May also include validation and management of pricing and cost model changes, developing RFP events, analyzing and summarizing RFP response data with a TCO focus, generating materials for negotiations and presentations, and management and tracking of supplier KPI’s and scorecards. Also includes measuring adherence and compliance to Kraft Procurement policies and procedures.

 

Business and Stakeholder Alignment. May act as an embedded team member within a functional area or BU for respective category areas as needed. Participates in sourcing and category management discussions, provides category expertise, and ensures ongoing linkages with the business. Contributes to frequent team meetings, and provides regular communication to outline risks and opportunities for respective categories.

 

Project Management. Engages in productivity, cash flow and innovation projects for assigned categories that may be driven by procurement, the Business Unit or another functional area with a focus on overall Total Cost of Ownership. Actively participates and contributes key category and Procurement knowledge to the team discussion. Has ownership and accountability for all assigned action items and follow-ups, and drives improvements in processes, capabilities and systems within identified categories of spend.

 

Buying Oversight/Transactional Category Activities. Manages transactional activities for identified categories to include entry and management of projects into PI+, preparing Bid Waiver and Bid Record documents to obtain sourcing approvals, resolving and responding to invoice kick-outs and facilitating SAP workflow management for new items, specifications and pricing. Ensures compliance to Kraft financial, Procurement, confidentiality and risk management policies, and the communication of these policies to suppliers and stakeholders. Leads, controls and drives improvement in the transactional buying process for respective category areas to capitalize on opportunities, drive productivity, and deliver quality and service requirements for stakeholders. Proactively coordinates and communicates with plant Materials Management to ensure alignment on availability and timing for key raw materials and packaging components as tied to supplier risk mitigation and continuity plans.
