Manager Accounting - Financial Reporting & Special Projects

To manage the preparation and review of financial reporting analysis including weighted average shares, cash flow supporting schedules, special reserve analysis, and earnings release tables.
Major Accountabilities:
- Reviews the accuracy of weighted average shares calculation and related analytical work.
- Reviews the preparation of Valero Energy Corporation’s earnings release tables, supporting explanations, and financial performance analysis.
- Reviews cash flow supporting schedules including stockholders’ equity, long-term assets, and long-term liabilities, as well as understand the relationship of other Balance Sheet items in the Statement of Cash Flows.
- Reviews qualitative and quantitative analysis of certain special reserves including employee benefits, pension, OPEB, property taxes, environmental, and legal reserves.
- Manages, coordinate, and comply with various federal and states regulatory requirements, such as the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and escheatment laws.
- Selects, guide, train, develop, and ensure the effective execution of the area and overall corporate objectives.
- Coordinates all special projects assigned within the department and perform special projects as required.
Education requirement and preferred:

High School diploma or GED required.

A Bachelors degree in Accounting is preferred.

A CPA and an MBA are preferred.
Experience requirements:

A minimum of ten years accounting experience with demonstrated knowledge of Corporate Accounting required .

Three years previous accounting supervisory experience required.
Experience preferred:

Concentration in oil and gas related general accounting and analysis preferred. Equivalent related experience in public accounting may be considered.

Experience with SAP preferred.
