Digital Pathology - Experienced Researcher Under Marie Curie IAPP Action-AIDPATH Project

An experience Researcher position, on the amount of full-time research experience  of 4-10 years, is available at Healthcare Division of Barco (http://www.barco.com/nl/markets/healthcare) in Kortrijk, Belgium, in the frame of a Marie Curie European Project “Academia and Industry Collaboration for Digital Pathology” (AIDPATH).

The R&D department of the Healthcare division of Barco specializes in designing, developing, testing, and validating new display technologies and imaging system components specifically for life-critical healthcare applications. 

The Technology & Innovation Group as part of R&D is doing high-tech research on the Healthcare products of the future. For this purpose the Technology & Innovation Group is looking for a research engineer specialized in web technology. The research engineer will collaborate with the team in an international project and will be responsible for the following tasks:

•         Study of the required web based technologies (storage, encryption, ...).

•         Definition of a web based framework.

•         Implementation of a proof of concept.

•         Integration of image processing modules in the defined and implemented framework.

Essential:

• A doctoral degree in a suitable field of research is required.

• The applicant should have 4 to 10 years full-time research experience in areas connected with the work description, and should have published at least a paper. They should be familiar with computer work and practice.

• The applicants must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc) in Belgium for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the recruitment (01/01/2012-31/12/2014).

 

Desirable:

• Experience of working in a research team environment.

• Experience of working on software for life-critical healthcare applications

 

 

Skills and Knowledge:

•         Excellent programming skills.

•         Good knowledge about SW architectures.

•         Experience with programming GPU's (CUDA, OpenCL,...).

•         Profound knowledge of with HTML5.

•         At least 4 years research experience.

•         Has an interest in healthcare applications.

 

Following qualifications are a plus:

•         Experience with image processing.

•         Experience with Cloud applications (Azure, Amazon, Google,...).

Working company:

The work activity will take place in the Technology & Innovation Group of the Barco Healthcare Division in Kortrijk, Belgium. The Technology and Innovation group of Barco Healthcare specializes in designing, testing and validating new display technologies and imaging system components specifically for life-critical healthcare applications. We are a lively and international group, including nationalities from Europe and around the world. Our past interns have come from a variety of countries.

Since the job in under the AIDPATH project framework the researcher will have to eventually travel to other research institutions within AIDPATH consortium, for presentation of results, dissemination and to carry out some work.
