St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton has a great opportunity for an experienced Staff Nurse to join their Heart Team.
This is a full-time (40 hours/week) day position.
Position Overview:
Primarily functions as perioperative nurse in the operating room, PACU, OPS, ASC, PACE / PAT (Preadmission consultation and education) and / or ENDO suite providing direct and indirect patient care. Directs activities of other personnel within assigned room / unit. Collaborates with other interdisciplinary patient care teams.
Job Description:
- Demonstrates relevant knowledge and skills in providing patient care in relation to professional standards and established policy and procedures.
- Utilizes the nursing process (assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation) in the provision of personalized, holistic patient care reflecting collaboration with the patient/significant other.
- Assumes responsibility for patient assignment and demonstrates ability to organize, prioritize, delegate, and manage time effectively.
- Demonstrates critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills to meet changing needs of patient and nursing unit.
- Acts as a patient advocate.
- Provides patient teaching to patients/families, staff and students.
- Exhibits professional, courteous, compassionate, and responsive contact in all forms of customer and team member communications.
- Documents according to hospital standards.
Job Requirements:
- Current Wisconsin RN license. Encourage certification in specialty.
Graduate of accredited nursing school. Knowledge of aseptic technique. Knowledge of perioperative nursing preferred.
Minimal 2 years Surgery experience -- Intra-op: OR and or Endo experience required. General Nursing experience required - One year perioperative experience which means; pre-op, (including OPS as well as inpatient surgical floors and current pre-op educa
High degree of interest and experience in patient and/or family education.
BLS certification required.
Knowledge of central line placement, arterial line placement and monitoring, Cardica outputs, A.O.R.N. guidelines and recommendations. Knowledge in cardiac medicine.
Ability to function within an intra disciplinary team in potentially stressful situations. Able to prioritize nursing actions to meet changing department needs. Acts as patient advocate, following hospital, medical staff and policies.
