Senior SAP BI designer supporting a global SAP implementation at Barco, by translating and modelling business reporting requirements.

Responsibilities

Combines project and support responsibilities.

Project responsibilities:

• Design and implement end-to-end SAP BI solutions based on SAP Business Warehouse and Business Objects.

• Work with business key users throughout the entire process of BI solutions: requirements analysis, conceptual & technical design, development, deployment and maintenance.

• Although, the role is for a technical oriented profile, you are customer oriented and capable to understand the business specifications. Ensure functional specifications are formal agreed upon.

• Apply best practice data modelling, development coding, in order to create well performing data marts and cubes which remain future proof.

• Challenge business requirements which are in conflict with best practices.

• According to capacity needs, may have to transfer the functional specifications to internal/ external developers. Supervising progress and quality.

• Work closely together with BI team colleagues to ensure consistency across Barco’s BI landscape by sharing best practices, design & development guidelines.

• Ensure unit test scenarios are in place as a development deliverable to ensure functional consistency, prior to the UAT with the business.

• Support creation of test plans and user acceptance testing phases.

• Provide accurate effort estimates. Including technical documentation and unit testing.

• Support overall change & release management.

Support responsibilities:

• 3rd line support ( as part of incident management )

• Responsible for investigating problems in search for root causes and solutions.

• Apply different solution in case of recurrent problems, performance issues.

• Master in computer science, informatics or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Proven track record of 5 years hands-on SAP BI experience in an international context.

• Capable and eager to understand functional business processes and the related reporting & analytics needs.

• Strong analysis skills

• Able to translate business reporting/analytics requirements into consistent and future-proof data warehouse designs (flexible, transparent, simple, maintainable).

• Proactive, solution-driven, customer-oriented (towards internal customer)

• Strong communication skills

• Team player

• Can work with an important level of autonomy.

• Thorough knowledge of SAP BW 7

• Thorough knowledge of SAP BO 4.1 suite with reporting tools (WebIntelligence, BO Analysis; preferably also SAP Design Studio and Lumira)

• Practical ABAP knowledge and good knowledge of extractors.

• Knowledge of SAP data services

• Handling of transports
