Training & Development Specialist

Provides for the professional development of the company's leadership, management, supervisory, operations, and support personnel by assisting in the design, development, and delivery of training and educational programs.
- Formulates teaching outline and determines instructional methods for desired training courses.
- Selects, designs, and/or develops teaching aids such as training handbooks, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, computer tutorials, and reference works.
- Reviews current curriculum for revisions and actively participates in scheduled curriculum meetings.
- Conducts training sessions for leadership development, core competencies, HR-related issues, performance management, and other soft-skill courses.
- Conducts training classes through effective presentation and platform skills, use of engaging questions, and facilitation of participants’ conversation.
- Consults with team management regarding team building initiatives, and facilitates team building sessions.
- Communicates with off-site vendors and/or contacts for each location for enrollment, scheduling, and payment.
- Acts as a training liaison with company field locations to provide recommendations about and schedule leadership and other soft-skills training.
- Administers the utilization of external training consultants and vendors.
- Screens, tests, counsels, and recommends employees for participation in internal and external educational and training programs.
- Compiles data and analyzes past and current year training requirements to assist in preparing budgets and justifying requested funds. Remains current on new developments, methods, and techniques in the training field.
- Follows progress of work projects and reports status through weekly and monthly reporting.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (required)
- Ability to travel 50% of each month while managing assigned work projects.
- Ability to read and interpret company policies, regulatory guidelines, and other work-related documentation.
- Ability to abide by confidentiality requirements when working with sensitive information, results, and communications.
- Skill in providing thorough, efficient, and effective customer service to individuals at all levels within the organization.
- Ability to communicate effectively to all levels throughout the organization through written and verbal methods.
- Ability to accomplish work within required timelines, in the short and long term and emergency timeframes, as well as when traveling.
- Ability to cross-train in other department duties to ensure efficient coverage department responsibilities.
- Ability to work with others to accomplish challenging assignments.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple assignments to ensure completion of tasks within stated time requirements.
- Proficient skill using Microsoft Office programs (i.e., Word. Power Point, Outlook, and Excel).

High School diploma or GED required.

5 years of training and/or training development experience required.

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Psychology, or related area preferred.

Certifications in the Myers-Briggs Type Inventory and the Situational Leadership Model preferred.
