Division:  Security, ID Badging and Compliance

 

 

 

  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Under general supervision, performs specialized administrative functions following guidelines provided by the Airport Security Coordinator, related to the Airport Security Program in support of the ID Badging and Compliance Offices at O’Hare and Midway Airport.  Duties include the issuance, maintenance and control of security access identification media and other related duties as required.

 

  

Duties:  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • Provide courteous and professional assistance to customers in person and/or by telephone

     

  • Answer, research, and respond to customer inquiries and problems that arise during badging/security compliance related transactions

     

  • Explain program information, procedures, and departmental policies to the general public

     

  • Initiate Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) fingerprint based criminal history record checks

     

  • Modify security profiles to incorporate new information, correct errors, or change access media status 

     

  • Conducts audits by reviewing ID Badging applications to ensure that media has been properly vetted and issued accordingly

     

  • Cross-train co-workers in all disciplines of ID Badging operations

     

  • Compile documents and obtain data from various sources to ensure compliance with Federal and departmental regulations for badge issuance and maintenance 

     

  • Performs administrative duties in the Badging and Compliance offices, including but not limited to scanning documents, document control, administration of access control privileges, SIDA training and airfield driver testing

     

  • Administration and maintenance of vehicle permit program

     

  • Confer with users and signatories to discuss issues such as access control needs, security violations, policy changes and control procedures 

     

  • Administration of Signatory compliance program; Maintain a database for signatory representatives

     

  • Lead and train entry-level administrative employees

     

 

 

Location:  O’Hare International Airport

 

Days Off:  Saturday and Sunday

 

Shift:         Days, Monday-Friday

 

Hours:       7:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m., 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m., 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

THIS POSITION IS IN THE CAREER SERVICE.

 

 

Three years of progressively responsible administrative or secretarial experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

SELECTION REQUIREMENTS:

 

This position requires applicants to complete an interview which will include a written exercise and/or a skills assessment test as part of the interview. The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position, based on the oral and written parts of the interview will be selected.

 

Preference will be given to candidates possessing the following:

 

·         Previous experience supporting Airport Security Operations

 

·         Previous experience leading and training entry-level administrative employees

 

·         Previous experience providing customer service over the phone

 

·         Previous experience providing customer service face to face

 

·         Proficiency in MS Word and Excel
